I find they are often overstated personally. I find that letting the whiskey sit in the glass for 20-30 minutes before sipping really removes most of it. Cheers buddy thanks for watching 🥃
Very nice, awesome pours. I had a pour of last years, will look out for this years. Cheers from Barcelona DB (only been here a day, not seeing much whiskey, lol)
That is awesome! Enjoy your vacation! I wish I was there. I am currently cleaning my house and it isnt very exciting lol. Cheers buddy thanks for watching 🥃
Hurt my heart when you lumped Makers Mark in with Jim Beam lol. It’s a Beam Suntory company. But they operate independently from Jim Beam proper. Either way nice review. I still have half a bottle of the 2023 release. Can’t see myself hunting the ‘24 the same way i did the ‘23.
I guess why I see a distinction is due to the fact that Beam owned MM before the Subtory buyout. So I tend to view it as part of the Beam portfolio just like I would Old Overholt or Knob Creek.... but I will clarify my wording in the future. Cheers buddy thanks for watching 🥃
I wasn’t even looking for the 2024, stumbled upon it in a small liquor store in downtown Pensacola while attending a beer fest. Had it listed at >$200. Needless to say, it made the flight home with me.
This makes me feel a bit better about paying $180 for a bottle of 2023 MMCA in the Philippines last year. I will probably not try hard to get the 2024 release, but if I stumble upon it at MSRP I may grab it.
I was wanting to actually really try and get this one but you pointed out it's $50 bucks more this year BOOOOOO! Bump that ill spend 50 bucks on Makers Cask strength and a spiral. These freaking distilleries and stores are going to rue the day they jumped the shark with pricing. I'm going to be blending and reaging my own and wait out this debacle of pricing.
I was super excited to score a bottle last year. But ultimately, it was a bit underwhelming. If 23>24, then this is likely a pass for me this year. Cheers buddy!
I will revist. I find I rarely notice a huge difference, as I always pout my whiskey and let it sit in the glen for 20-30 mins before sipping. This seems to do the same thing, at least to me. Cheers buddy thanks for watching 🥃
Damn you, now I’m going to have to find out for myself. Because we have disagreed on KC 18 and JD 12 on which batch was better now I’m going to have to find out if I agree with 2023 being better than 2024. MMCA.😄😂
@@yourdrinkingbuddy I belong to Markers Mark Whisky Drop and was trying to decide to skip this or not. Me thinks not. Mash and Drum was a bit indifferent. Bourbon Junkies gave a scathing review of 2024 release. SLB was the only I've watched to prefer it. Me thinks I should surely get it. It beats the regret of passing on it knowing so many do enjoy and prefer it.
This one is about as good as they get honestly. I would put this a smidge behind Pappy 15 and WLW, but not as wide of a gap as you would think. Cheers buddy thanks for everything 🥃
Haven't seen or heard a lot yet as it just came out, but the clear consensus seems to be that despite being older, 2023 is a better whiskey. Since you really like oak, I was expecting you to favor the oakier 2024. Happy I got a 2023 recently in a reasonable trade. Puts me off chasing a 2024 unless I get lucky at a good price and maybe use as trade bait.
I’ll say this, having been able to try them both, they are so different. I personally like this one more but I guess I have to say, what do I want out my whiskey that day. I say this as I sip on JD 12. Thinking of these two, I’d say JD 12 falls as the well balanced of these two. Just a side note. But these are wheated whiskies. But anyway, these two are very good on their own and a must have in my opinion. Heaven hill whesters such as Old Fitz has disappointed me so I’ll stick with Makers at the same price point if not less. Their 19yr old fitz can’t touch this. I wish Makers would not blend these and make them a year older as they released them but I getthey want to put out more. I appreciate their transparency as even Buffalo Trace doesn’t show you their mash bill. I love both releases for what they are and I love that each release has something different to offer. Hold on to these as we will see how next years is. Cheers 🥃 Makers is 6yrs old on the regular line up cause they believe that’s sweet spot on age. Makers is under the Beam/Suntory umbrella but has nothing to do Makers as the Samuels family is still running the Japan owned brand. Thank you buddy for the shout out! Appreciate all you do for us!
Thanks for this VERY well thought out response. I agree that this smashes OF anything. I also appreciate that Maker's is getting into cask strengh aged stated whiskeys. If they could give us say, a nine year, for around $100? That would be amazing. Cheers buddies thanks for watching 🥃
At 200 bucks (esp at 50 higher than last year) it's a pass. Spend half that s and get a mm46cs, MMCS and lunch. Luckily its a 95% chance I'll never see it out in the wild and if I did it's a buy and trade for 3 or so other highly allocated bottles.
Not sure why I’m watching this it’s a bottle I’ll never see or try. And at this price even if I saw it it’s a pass over what I’m willing to pay for alcohol. But I’ll watch just to see.
It really does suck that they went up to $200. It was serious worth it at $150. 200 is borderline even though I really do love it. Cheers buddy thanks for watching 🥃
