Nicky hope I'm not speaking out of turn here but I've been there ('re parental illness) obviously you'll want to spend as much time with dad as poss - take family photos to show him, play his favourite music, retell old stories of fun family times, get your mum to reminisce about when they first met, read a newspaper or book aloud to him etc. etc. Unfortunately you'll have to shed most of your tears in private, try to stay upbeat as much as poss in front of dad.
