summary 🫶 1. do not apply too much concealer for your undereye areas, apply on back of your hand then use small amount only 2. apply concealer around your lips to make your lipstick pop 3. use ashy tone contour (powder), not bronzers 4. apply blush with muted tones and sponge 5. apply lipstick on your whole lips (don't miss the corners!), use a lip brush if needed
#3 doesn’t apply to everyone. even though cool toned contours may look good on people with a general personal cool toned color, it looks really ashy and gross on me. Personally the one that suits me best is in between brown and grey
You look incredibly beautiful in the thumbnail for both "do and don't." The "don't" actually looks like an amazing night look, or just a more sultry look in general, the "do" looks like a very simple makeup daily look, or simply a no makeup makeup look.
that's what I was thinking like both looked good 😂 kinda defeats the purpose of the video, probably shoulda made pros and cons for both looks depending on what you want out of them
Watched this yesterday and tried some of the tips today. HUGE difference in my everyday makeup! I tried the super thin layer of concealer around my lips bc i have discolouration there (idk why i've never done this before) and then did the lipstick in the corners bc i'm guilty of mistake no.5 lol. My makeup looks SO much better! Subtle changes but noticeable results and i love it! Thanks Haley 🤍
Haley, I really appreciate that you show your skin texture and makeup thickness “as is” and that you don’t use those lighting techniques to make your skin look smoother or your makeup look lighter than they really are.❤️
Agreed!! When I put on makeup and I look like a cakey clown, I SOB and will not look into the mirror for a week. She doesn’t even know how much being real helps mental health.
If you intentionally go for this look, yes. I just have a feeling girls in this video wanted to achieve more natural makeup, so then too much blush will definitely ruin it. Once you get more skill you're free to experiment and play with styles. I also like that slightly overblushed look, but it's hard to make it look right :D
Also if your concealer isn't high coverage enough or your under eyes turn out greyish, I recommend to use research about color correcting to save you more product/concealer and not make it look too cakey. It 100% helps such as applying red concealer before your normal concealer to balance out the colors and not leave it looking greyish, even some blush or lipstick will work!
I didn’t actually think I was doing anything wrong, then made a couple of changes based on this video and was genuinely so impressed with how much of a difference it made. I am stunned and my life will never be the same again, THANK YOU.
@@HaleyKimaking I know it'll probably take a while to make, but I am so excited for your makeup course! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge :)
I LOVE this video. I love the no makeup makeup look but can’t tell if I crossed the line of too much because I am so used to one look on myself. Recently I saw your video with the famous korean makeup artist. it was in korean, and tho I didn’t understand but I can see the impact of what good natural makeup should look like. Would love to see another video like that in english but maybe simplified for a DIY.
Product recommendation for contouring light skin! The NYX sweet cheeks So Taupe is my all time fave! And it’s basically like the fenty stick in Amber but in powder form. It’s so good!
wow i really love these tips! thank you haley. i've never been a fan of applying ""full make up"", with foundation etc, but at the same time i always thought i was wrong or that people would think it's weird idk... your channel made me realize that it's okay to not use foundation, that i can look pretty without it too
I always love a no makeup makeup look but somehow always find tutorials out there to still be too much. I always wanted it to look more like bare skin. Now finally I found my girl 😍. I love your tutorials!
Thank you so much 😊. Makeup has always been something I was insecure about because it always looked cakey on me so this video was so much help. Thank you so much 🙇🏽♀️ I seriously mean it. You’ve helped me become more confident in not only my skills but also being happy with my face in general. I’ve gained much confidence in myself.
Love your videos but I'm gonna have to disagree on the blush one, I love me a ton of blush 😅 I think it makes me look more flushed and youthful so I love it
Yeah, me too, I love that flushed look a lot. But I think she just shared tips that her viewers were concerned about, but you can always play with these kind of tricks
Love all of your videos, they are so informative and helpful. I hope you can make more videos about olive skin and foundation/ concealer for people with olive skin cause most brands tend to think that olive is just warm ,(also i discovered that i have the same skintone/shade as you so you’re the only person that i watched when learning how to do makeup) luv u haley 🫶🏻❤️
In the comparison pictures you also did the eyeliner different, and I feel like the "bad" version is how my eyeliner comes out a lot😅 could you explain how you achieve this softer look? 💖
As someone who usually aims for a more natural makeup look, this is super helpful!! Particularly the concealer, I’ve been trying to eliminate my eyebags and have been experimenting with how much product to use, but it’s definitely been creasing the more I add.
Its really a good thing i came across this video because recently i was about to buy a contour stick but didnt get to so now that i watched this i was saved from an unnecessary purchase since i happen to have powder which can be used for contour
Thank you so much for this video, Haley! Most of these tips are nice reminders to have, especially when you aren't sure how to do these things. I'm rather fond of your approach towards embracing your own body, differences, flaws and all and using makeup to enhance you. For the longest time I didn't really care about it or give too much thought into makeup but now that I am going through a journey of health recovery, I see that there's strength to be found in respecting yourself and your body so I'm learning the basics of makeup and body care again as part of my steps to a better relationship with myself as understanding how to do this well can be an act of love, both to myself and to the people and world around me. It also reminds me of beautiful people I cherish who I want to reflect that care forward as each day passes by. Cheers! 💕
Girl, I need your help. We have the same skin tone, complexion and undertone (at least that's what I think). What shade foundation do you use and what foundation brand do you use?
thankyou haley, really helps us doing our daily makeup without looking too much, just like what we need to learn. Thankyou so much you make me wanna get back to wear makeup on daily basis.
Finally! I commented on many other ytubers to do such video, I filled it in your Google form also. No one else did it. I thought maybe I'm asking for too much and that they don't get this much time and it must be stressful job , but you did it! A huge thank you! Big big thank you!❤️❤️❤️ The concealer application under eyes is sooooo helpful! I directly jumped to my concealer and your technique worked!!!!🎊🎊🎊
The lipstick technique is very useful! Just a subtle change. Also for concealer I always use thumb, recently I’ve switched to brush and this helps with precision.
woah the lips concealer tip is so good, my lips have a natural dark line and I never thought of doing this. but honestly I love the too much blush look lol
I think this must be the most helpful makeup video I've ever watches! Thanks foe showing examples and what a great idea to incorporate your viewers! xx
THANK U SO MUCH for recommending to put concealer around my corners, i always wondered why when i applied the same products as some make up artists my lips looked way less even and prominent, and having tried ur tip i figured out my lips are as flawless as theirs its just the small detail i didnt know about
I just bought my first makeup products and am waiting for them to arrive! I'm almost completely relying on your videos and advices, never used makeup before lol you're really pretty
Hi haley, will there be another video on this talking about eye and brow makeup? I clicked on the video, expecting some tips on eyeshadow and eyebrow makeup because of the thumbnail
applying too much concealer... I have very deep set hollow eyes and due to that a brownish-green-shadow from my cheekbone, on top of that due to the hollowness a purple-dark grey 'shadow' in the inner corners and on top of that the purple veins under my eyes are visible across the whole area... it's a triple problem and unable to cover up :D there are so many videos about discoloration but it's the lack of volume that is the problem for me and every discoloration technique seems to just make the area look really grey.
Wow ... no one have problems doing their eyebrows ... I'm always struggle doing my brows. Not only bcuz it's not symmetry, my brows shape looks kinda different and my left brows kinda bald on the upper tail part and it makes me more confused with my brows 🙃
I don't know if it will help you, but my eyebrows are slightly different too, one is more straight, long and thick, other is more arched, short and thin, I usually just follow their natural shape with thin pencil, then try to balance them a little like adding one extra line below thinner brow and making them the same length, but not too much. They still look slightly different after all, but it's fine since human faces are not symmetrical, it feels more alive this way, I even like it. If I got it right you have the same issue with their lengths, so don't be afraid to just draw the rest on your skin with slight short streaks!
Do you wax or shave your moustache? Do you notice the hairs getting darker or thicker over trime? I have avoided putting concealer and foundation around there bc I’m worried itll look worse
Yess i saw the using concealer around the lips hack from Hailey Bui(?) and started using concealer around my lips and my lips looking so much plump! my favorite tip ever🥰
I think you look beautiful in both pictures from the do and don't. Because you simply beautiful. Thank you for sharing valuable advice. Thank you!!! I am guilty of the sloppy lipstick application and applying too much blush because I like that clownish look. 😅
I'm actually amazed with myself since I've done all of it without anyone teaching me. I just did what looked the best and it seems I was right 😍 thanks!
Haley plz make a video on Bronzers for Olive skin!! I have medium-tan (NC35) skin with muted cool olive undertone and its so hard to find the right bronzer shade that is not too orange and is affordable. Love from India ❤️
I do mistakes like this and didn't even knew before I don't apply conceal on my lips area and that blush one too and also I never paid attention on my lipstick and I noticed that I don't apply lipstick properly on corners 💜❤️thank you ❤️💜😘
Super helpful video, but I love heavy blush. I will continue to put on a lot of blush. It’s my favorite part of makeup. Lol Blush wears off really quick too.
