I have lupus for almost 4 years now. I do not have the butterfly rash, instead it’s fully on top of my upper lip, a couple round shape on my chin, on the side of my eyes, on my eyelids and in my ears. I stop using make up 2 years ago, and it did improved a little. It just won’t go away though. So I haven’t took many pictures with my kids at all in the last 2 years and I figured it’s time for family pictures before they aren’t so little anymore. After telling my husband I was scared of taking pictures with my rash (he tells me I’m beautiful every single day no matter what) he suggest I use make up if I feel like it. So I did a little search on RU-vid and your video was the first one to pop up. You’re beautiful with and without make up and I might follow some of your techniques!!
Thank you so much for posting this. I have been dealing with Lupus and getting a diagnosis for almost 4 years now. It is certainly not easy and the facial rash makes me so self conscious and uncomfortable a lot of the time. You are beautiful!!!❤️
Hey Beth! ✨ I had seen your Barcroft (truly?) video a while before, but happy to have found your mainstay channel as well! My Lupus rashes have been quite bad lately, and I found comfort and inspiration seeing you speak frankly and positive here about your routines ... thank you! 💖
I absolutely love your kindness Kayleigh 🥰 It can be SO hard trying to find something full coverage and suitable for sensitive skin :( I don’t think that it NEEDS covering, facial redness, I just get such a pep in my step and feel bomb when it’s not on parade, you know? 💜
Thank you so much, what you said made me smile! My skin is difficult too, it's never been the same since diagnosis and medication but I've found my calling through what I thought was a negative and I can't knock that, can I?! :) We're bad ass.
Wow, thank you! I'm finally leaving my house tomorrow evening to meet some old friends who knew me before I had all this mess going on all over my skin. I'm newly diagnosed with lupus so for the past 2 years I thought this was all psoriasis! The way your cheeks look in this video is almost exactly how mine looks today with the exception of your beautiful eyebrows! I've lost most of mine to psoriasis or whatever rash this is that hides in whats left of my eyebrows. Anyhow, your video gave me hope- Hope that I can cover this face somewhat so I may go outside of my home and feel normal again! Thank you again! 😊
Hey Beth.. I'm 25 and have been struggling with Lupus for over 5 years now. Over the years my skin has deteriorated as I live in the southern parts of India and no amount of sunscreen can beat the sun here, plus the medications did their number on me. Though originally I did not use any makeup, but now that I earn enough I wanted to invest in some self care and self pamper. Thank you for this video :) I've been so scared of trying makeup products out but seeing this video made me very emotional. Sorry for the long rant :P and Wish you best in everything :D
TanyalovMusic this was no long rant, this was such a beautiful message that made me damn sure well up. Thank you so much for your kindness! My little heart is so full right now!! 😭💜 I’m sorry you feel your skin has deteriorated, it’s such a task to try keep our skin healthy and I cannot even begin to imagine what it’s like in a place like India with sun, sun, sun! England is a lot more tolerable. Makeup can seem scary, believe me I am only just learning to relax with it. But makeup can be wiped off and started over, no makeup is the same and you do you! I’m glad I could help you out. Hit me up if you need any help! 💜💜💜
Hi beautiful!! Thank you for posting and sharing your beauty tips. I was diagnosed in my teens with systemic lupus, that was 24 yrs ago. My sister, mom and myself all have SLE. I noticed your beauty products only have SPF 15. I’m extremely photosensitive and most lupies are required to stay out of the sun as much as possible. All the Rheumatologist’s I have had recommend spf 30 and above. Just wanted to add that since I get the butterfly rash as well. Covering up with a hat, wearing UPF clothing and wearing sunscreen spf 50+ helps a ton with the rash. 💜
Zandra Velenti Thank you for stopping by 💜 super great tips about Lupus and thank you for sharing your story. I wish more research was done into genetics and how lupus plays a part in that because I know so many people with siblings etc with lupus. I personally am not photosensitive (83% of people in a Lupus Foundation of America survey stated they have photosensitive lupus. I myself, am part of the 17% that don’t). I’m very fair, so I wear sunscreen 90% of the time and 90% of my time is spent indoors because of my full time job and RU-vid!
Beth Does Beauty that makes me so happy you don’t have the photosensitivity! 🤗 I use to do lupus research before I took a break to get the disease under control and there are some new meds in the works. 💜 Wonderful news for us lupies! ☺️ I look forward to watching more of your wonderful videos! 🤗
OMG, not only are you absolutely beautiful, and your make up flawless, but here in Florida, I would say, you have a phenomenal accent as well I can listen to you speak all day, like me with lupus, I am very sorry to you, who says we have to walk around looking like we've been burned in a fire or you've gotten sunburned for the hundredth time, so now to subscribe and continue watching anything and everything you post, prayers to you and yours, And to all that are receiving the very difficult news of this disease, but we can still look beautiful ladies and gentlemen✌️👍
I love your video I too have lupus and struggle with the butterfly rash and psoriasis. It can be a challenge to find products that cover well without looking cakey or building up on raised spots. I use Garnier BB cream it is lightweight and really covers my rash and has spf 15 in it. Thank you for having tge courage to share.
Honestlyinvisiblysick I’m sorry to hear you have lupus too, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone :( I absolutely agree, finding products to cover rashes can be seriously hard because it does go cakey and falls in the fine lines as it’s designed to do but I’ll totally look into Garnier BB cream! Thank you for the recommendation 💜💜
my rashes took 5 years to fade out, first it’s pink, red and purple before fading out. But it didn’t disappear completely. You can easily use makeup to cover up but use a green color corrector first.
Zawani Hamid hi Zawani! Thank you for sharing your story! 💜 it’s important to remember that not everyone’s skin is the same and people’s makeup abilities vary, what’s easy for you and I might now be for others. I’ve been waiting 2 years for this redness to fade and it’s pink to red back and forth, it’s not going anywhere sadly :( . I personally haven’t found a colour corrector that I like yet, but I’m still searching. :)
I'm trying so hard to cover my lupus... i have hydrocortisone cream that takes the heat out.. but it seems like NOTHING gets rid of the red/purple disaster on my face, arms and chest... 😔
Wow, your skillz, Ive never seen anyone do coverage like that without using green corrector, Ive been looking for ways to cover my rash without using green corrector as it makes me look so ghostly.
I've always found I stay looking a bit green when I try Green Corrector, so I try to avoid it... I'm still on the hunt so I can change up my routine a little bit xx
Thank you! I am so tired because my friends try to send me „the right cosmetics“ all the time (and they really want to help, they just don‘t know what it is exactly).
I feel you on this - everyone is so different and cosmetics are absolutely not a one size fits all category. It has taken me YEARS to find products that I love and that work for me. :)
I'm going through lupus diagnosis now.. My skin is fair and I've started developing the rash. Usually I go without makeup but now I'm using some I get burning from my usual products. I actually get burning and red from vitamin c and baby cream. Any suggestions?
Well done! I’ve not got the red rash mine is a darker pigment n let me tell u it’s a mission being dark skinned to find reasonably priced foundations 🤦🏾♀️
Hey Jordy! Thank you for stopping by 💜 Seriously, the beauty industry need to get themselves together and recognise all skin tones and not just my pale skin. I’m sorry you go through that, it’s not fair! The more I get into the beauty industry, the more it’s apparent the discrimination. The places I know of with dark skin in mind, at a reasonable price is Juvia’s Place velvety matte foundation, which goes for about $20 a tube and Maybelline Fit Me foundation have a good range but again, I can’t attest to how good that is for both colour or wear.
