Great video brother!!! You strike me as the type of guy that is more mathematically driven and striving for perfection on a blade would be a monumental task for any type of personality! Hopefully you’re not too hard on yourself. You shouldn’t be your knives are absolutely amazing! And I think at the end of the day knife, making should be a lot of precise measurements, but should also equally be artistically flawed pieces of art! Lord knows I have yet to make a perfect knife! Hahahaha I think you’re doing a good job at chasing a great balance! 👊😀

@@TheOGfrenchy hey seriously thanks man, I appreciate you watching likewise. I don’t know if I am all that more precise, but I definitely sit in my shop staring at a project for longer than I should productively haha. Anyway, always keep moving the needle forward is the best policy.

I like the explanation at the start. How do like the jig? have you tried it on a curved blade?

@@solarstorm50 Bob, yes I do like that jig, I got mine off Amazon’s, but pops knife supply has an affordable one designed by Neels Van Den Berg. I have tried the Jig on curved blades, and it just doesn’t work for me. I do prefer freehand grinding in most cases. This being a very thin blade and needing to make straightness corrections from the warp and difficulties in integral bolster, this jig was crucial.

Learn to forge to shape and freehand grind. Kamimura YT channel is the best resource for this. You have a lot of gear, time to up your skill level. Forge On!!!

I took the criticism and watched the video, and I do appreciate the link to a smith with much more experience than I. But as I said in my video on a few points I am in no way an expert, and the difficulties are from less experience. But I shot this as an explanation from that perspective. I will also note that those skills are things in my repertoire that I am working on bettering, but in the case of working something like this that is so thin with a deadline, some lenience to prior skills were taken into consideration.
