Had to bust out the ol' bamboo fishing rod on the jetty

This brought back some fond memories. As a pier rat growing up in South Florida during the '50s, I remember some of the old timers fishing with calcutta cane surf rods that had the conventional Penn reels attached with pipe clamps .... and they caught loads of fish. I also saw some guys fishing the bridges for snook with cane rods and live mullet they'd walk along the shadow line. When they got hit, you could hear the rod whack against the bridge with a sound that reverberated through the quiet night air, and then they'd simply flip the snook onto the bridge.

Lol good video reminds me of when I would use a canepole catfishing and still catch more than anyone on the river lol it don't take a 1000 dollar combo lol

Hi Joey, I guess the quality of our gear isn't a factor in catching fish. I'm not going to give-up my rods anytime soon. I still like good gear. (It's not the best, but it's OK.) Good luck and have fun, Mickey
