It looks like this on tests, but the handle is on the other side of the case and is not in line with the chain, see 9:30. Of course additional cover is a good idea, safety first
Saw arrived yesterday ru-vid.comUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and today I cut about 3/4 cord of wood with it. Make sure you get an extension chord that is at least 12 gauge wire, minimum. This is my first electric in about 10 years, and things sure have improved. The self-sharpener works great, and it just kept cutting through some pretty decent logs. Wear your eye protection, and ear protection. Excellent saw.
The one thing to correct in this build would be the nickel strips. Since this is a very high current draw device, doubling the nickel strips would help a lot.
I'm gonna guess that this isn't super practical. I mean, I only paid $126 (deal at the time) on amazon for my 14" greenworks 40v chainsaw with a 2ah battery and a charger, and it works excellent. Plus it has an automatic oiler. But in the spirit of fabrication, this is an awesome build. Thank you for taking the time to post this video. I love building stuff myself too, sometimes not just for the cost savings, but for the fun, learning experience, and pride I get knowing I made something myself. 👍👍
Just a note on an otherwise excellent build, better extend the sprocket guard cover to cover your handle bar because if the chain accidentally snaps it will provide extra protection on your hand.
Good job man. I'm making something similar at the moment. But when you were showing the testing at the end. You should have played it in real time. That's kinda the whole point to see how long it actually takes. Also to see the cutting ability as well. Ik you did it to make it look faster or whatever your reason may be. But I would have cared how slow or fast. I just wanted to see the real time cutting ability. All N All. Niice work bub. Keep the cool homemade stuff coming. Love it!!!!
Very nice, if you use the small Two stoke oil containers and make a drip Oiler onto the chain using gravity and 30 motor oil vs bar oil if might flow nicely out the small gas line.
