Sorry for being totally newbie but how to use pads as beats/claps or drums(toms/hi-hat etc.) Do I need any additonal software to set it up? Because in analog lab I see only piano/synth presets. I still wonder how can I put some lets say beats to these pada and to use... Thanks for letting me know, i appreciate any guides guys

Yes it works with Logic Pro X! As does all the software it comes with like Analog 4. It’ll be as simple as setting a preset.

Hi. Would you be able to tell me the difference between analog lab and ableton live. I just bought a midi keyboard for my studio setup (I'm a singer) and I have no idea what I'm doing. I thought I was just going to make beats but this keyboard came with several programs lol. I need a For Dummies book for this. From my understanding, it seems like Analog Lab is sounds that you would then export to another software program? But I see you were able to make a full beat from here. Is there an option to record? Idk I guess I just don't understand the point of analog lab other than downloading sounds. But then you can overlap two sounds which makes me believe that I'm missing something here lol.

Totally. So a DAW (digital audio workstation) is a main program you’ll use to create/record music. My DAW of choice is Ableton Live. Ableton live comes with its own sounds that you can use, but you can also you sounds from other companies called Plugin-Ins or VSTs. Plugins and VSTs are basically just virtual instruments that you run from within your DAW (Ableton Live). You open them from within your DAW and this is how you record them- with the DAW. So to make it one step more complicated, companies who make lots of virtual instruments also make these “hubs” to contain them all and navigate around their library. Since Arturia makes so many different virtual instruments/plugins/VSTs they made Analog Lab, which is a hub for all of their sounds but ALSO makes it easier to sync up their sounds and their controllers. SO you open Analog Lab inside your DAW, and using analog lab you select your sound, then use your DAW to record it. You can also open up arturia plugins directly in your DAW, not going through analog lab. Hope that was helpful!

@@Taetro OMG this was amazing thank you. I think most tutorials assume that people know the difference but this was super helpful. You just took my headache away. Because this is like learning a new language to me. QQ: So Technically I don't need analog lab I can just buy plugins and import it into Ableton? I just don't want all these separate programs if I don't need them.

Yeah, bigger versions of Ableton come with more sounds. Don’t think of it as “importing” the sounds, you’re just opening the plugins in your daw. For a while I made music with just the sounds that come with Ableton, but eventually you may find a plugin sound that calls your name!

Last question if you are using a VST before opening it into your DAW do you have to play multiple notes before you can open it in your DAW or do you just play a few keys and then make a beat out of it when using your DAW. Not sure if I'm clear because I'm having trouble wording it but for example, if I'm trying to create a sound in analog lab can I press one key on the keyboard and then open the sound in Ableton or do I have to play a full out 3 min song (using the keys on the keyboard) for the sound to be utilized in the DAW. Ugh I'm not sure If i'm making sense because I don't know all the terminology lol
