Hi Peter, my wife bought me the white version of The Abbey about a month ago. I held it aloft and declared it the most beautiful thing I've ever owned! I honestly didn't realise the WORK that went into making it-wow!!

LOVE all that attention to detail with that Gothic tracery. Nicely done! Be sure to report back and let us know how it holds up in the weather.

Hi peter,the bird table looks brilliant well worth the time and effort you put into it, i have used plywood myself on bird tables and nesting boxes it worked fine for me also as long as treated well. You must have been pleased how it turned out

Hello Kevin. I had a similar idea about the roof Slates. I think it would look great. Send me a photo of yours when its done. I would love to see it.

Hi Richard. I made one of these off my folks about 4 years ago. It's still standing strong.

This has inspired my husband to make a bird feeder during lockdown. Do you have any plans for this or dimensions on the openings, please? Thank you.

Is that exterior ply your using? Otherwise it won't last outdoors no matter what finish you use.
@PeterSmithwoodsmith
@PeterSmithwoodsmith Год назад
Haha classic. Thanks for the comment. The bird table that I made fore my folks is 3 years old now and looks great. I can't remember if it's external ply or not but If it starts to look shabby. I will happily make a new one as this was a joy to make.

Very nice. I think an improvement would have been continuous arches (11:23 14:00), instead of half pieces.

Hey! I was wondering if there was a “templete” of this bird house you made I’d love to copy it!!

Ask the Canadian ru-vid.com about that. He makes these templets professionally for people to download. And he is a pro with woodworking too.

That’s a really nice result. Terrific work. What wood did you use?

Hi Graeme. Thanks for the comment. I used oak for the pillars and round the arches and marine plywood for the rest.

What no video of the birds using it????? I was concerned when I saw so much plywood being used for an out door project. If you use CA glue in several instances it would have cut way down on using so many clamps- Also when you added finish it hid most of the detail you put into it -IMO. This would have been a good project for boiled linseed oil only and keep most of the detail visible.

Hi Gary. I made one of these for my parents about 4 years ago and it is fine. no issue with the plywood at all. Thanks for the message.

Hi gary i have read your comments twice now thinking wow this man really knows his stuff with such comments,as you can imagine i clicked on your name expecting to find a wealth of knowledge or at the very least a vault full of your work on show for the world to admire, and yet it would seem you have NO content at all zilch nothing to base your remarks on what a shocker.

A bird feeding table that is stunning. Here's the problem. Unless you are doing it for your own garden, how could you sell these at a profit? You deserve at the very least £15 an hour. That makes the table worth at least, at the very least, £150. Do you have any customers with that amount to spend on a bird table? Last year, me and a disabled mate of mine made and sold about 30 traditional tits boxes, and it was as much as we could do to get a fiver each for them!

Hello Peter. Thank you so much for your interest in my channel. It's much appreciated. In answer to your comment. I pretty much make everything on my channel as gifts for friends and family or for myself. I work full time, So all of this is done in my spare time, in the evenings or at the weekend. Its really not about money for me at all. It is purely for the love of making things.

Not only do we have the same name, we operate the same too. I'm a woodturning addict. You cannot sell your stuff for a decent price, so give it away! It makes no sense, but most of life doesn't either, so keep up the good work and make people happy!
