Some useful information: Firstly, the TAB key lets you alternate between the points of the track including the freeform pieces, you don't have to keep deleting it. 'R' lets you rotate a joint 45 degrees while moving it, a good way to get the freeform track to look more accurate while deciding where to put it. You can extend a freeform track by going into edit mode and then pressing 'spawn new', if not, it will be a separate entity and be a lot harder to edit the connections as they won't affect each other. Also, these freeform tracks require more points to look and act smoother. I know you where just experimenting but I hope this helps.
I’ve never been one to yell so much at my screen. You didn’t have to delete all those tracks! When it starts building off the wrong side, just hit tab to switch to the other side. And, you can edit the points on the free form tracks by hitting the button next to the add point button.
