Great skill, try to show more of the process though. Going from a block of wood on the handle to a handle is too much of a jump, try showing just clips of the intermediate steps. Helps the video flow a little nicer
Looks great, love that S grind! Looked like it was going to have kurouchi finish at the top but then it was gone later. Did the acid etch dissolve it? Maybe it was just my eyes and the camera angle playing tricks on me.
🙏 thanks. I scrubbed it clean for use in the kitchen so it probably appears lighter on camera. I'll try to get a detailed close-up next time to show some texture and pattern
that’s kerosene so it seeps into all the gaps and the idea is when he put it into the burner it’ll burn all the oxygen out of the gaps so when he forge welds there are no pockets
That’s NOT Damascus steel. It is simple pattern welded steel. Sheesh. It’s like every knife maker is stupid or something. HOWEVER, that is a beautiful knife.
It is Damascus steel. It is not wootz steel. The term Damascus steel has become synonymous with pattern welded steel in modern times. Pattern welding pre dates wootz steel regardless of the change of terminology. There's plenty of information available online on this topic
@@lewgriffinknives216 I know there’s plenty of information. I’ve given it a serious amount of scholarship. It actually has to be wootz steel before you can call it Damascus. It should have specific chemistry as well.
Somewhere blacksmiths that forged greats for the likes of Gilgamesh, Genghis Khan, King Arthur can see that what they really needed was a pneumatic press
Blacksmith and bladesmith is different and dedicated to similar but individual focused work. Back then they understood the need to utilise extra manpower to achieve what would take a single person an unnecessary amount of time
@@lewgriffinknives216 all the same back then the manpower would surely be umderwhelming to 25 tonnes of pressure conistent straigh out of furnace ceaselessly. Either way merely a humourous observation admired your work greatly
@@lewgriffinknives216 I didn't commented just for the algo ^^ I did appreciate, I'd like to be able to do a knife like this, this is really wonderful, you did a great work
