I now offer them with a custom stand that folds away.
There's also a version without drawers available as of 2019.
Watch as I take you through the build process and create one of a kind custom close up pads from start to finish. Each one is made from 1/2 inch thick black walnut. There are 2 functioning sides, a padded top side for card and coin tricks and a polished walnut underside so you can flip it over and you've got the perfect surface for cup and ball tricks.
The padded side is carefully designed to meet the strict fit and feel that a professional magician needs. Not to much bounce and just the right amount of cushion... The entire product has been designed and tested with the help of my friend Mr. Brent Geris, Owner of the Magic Apple magic store in Studio City California.
Years in the making and rapidly becoming a must-have for magician's looking to make their mark with the right first impression.
Call (818)469-1345 Email - newtonwoodcraft@gmail.com or visit my web site at www.newtonwoodcraft.com for details.

Wow this looks amazing, you should make a close up mat with an inbuilt smoke device so that smoke comes from the mat that would be a cool idea!

If you were to make one from scratch, how long would it take from start to finish to fully complete it? If I had to guess, I'd say a week but that's a random guess.....
@marknewton7081
@marknewton7081 5 лет назад
Hi Brian. Actually I never worked out how many hours but I know that I normally allow 7 to 10 days to make one. That’s why I normally try to make a batch of them each time. It’s the setup that takes time, In the video you just see the process (the fun part). I’m about to start a new batch so I’ll find out... Thanks for the question?

@@marknewton7081 I love how they're handmade as well and very little machinery used and because they're handmade, no two are the same Would you be able to make me one but without any drawers in them?

Brian Magicman of course. In fact, I’m going to create a new product listing on my website for close up pads without drawers... I’ll give you the link as soon as I’ve created it.

Quality love it, can I ask the foam which I know is 1/2 inch, but is it just a medium density I take it as have seen there are like soft and hard foams. Thanks.
@marknewton7081
@marknewton7081 7 лет назад
Hi Peter, yes it's a medium density foam. Me and the guys at the Magic Apple played around with the coin bounce for a while until we settled on a particular feel. I didn't realize the array of different types of foam that were available until I did my R & D on this project.
@film_magician
@film_magician 7 лет назад
really close to buying one, few questions, what's the underlay / foam stuff? Just trying to get a sense of the springiness, and the colored material, is that two way velvet?
@marknewton7081
@marknewton7081 7 лет назад
It's a particular type of foam that was chosen as a result of R & D trials with working magicians at the Magic Apple store in Studio City CA. For obvious reasons, I can't give out details but I can assure you (and provide references) that it's a joy to use. It provides just the right level of cushioning and bounce for slight of hand.

Hi Cameron, I use 1/2" foam then interfacing is stretched to create the shape and finally suede.

Hi... I do but unfortunately, there's a long waiting list for them right now. They are available for pre-ordering here - www.newtonwoodcraft.com both for US and International ordering. They take a couple of weeks to make once started and at the moment I'd be a couple of months away from being able to start. Thanks for your interest. Mark Newton

@Newtonwoodcraft
@Newtonwoodcraft 8 лет назад
+Daniel Gallagher not at all. I'm sorry if you got that impression. I just have to make sure I line up my projects so that each client receives the same service standard. I'd be delighted to take your order. I just can't make it until existing orders are filled as with all other clients. This tends to be the nature of custom woodworking. Projects take a long time to complete you see.
