Excellent video and beautiful work. Great to see how a pro builds them vs all of the other how to videos on YT. While you were using mega tools, I could see how I would do the same things with what I have. You covered a few nice tips and techniques that most don't. For example, showing how to get your mark, laying and clamping multiple peices and cutting all at once. And watching you lay out the corner measurements was a thing of beauty. Saved and subscribed.

Makes me wish I had to patience to set up my saw etc to cut square ..I have the tools and small shop but can not cut square to save my life..and I watch these videos and it IS relatively "easy" to build cabinets but don't tell that to my nearly naked kitchen. After 5 years of having 2 small uppers and a sink base cabinet, I dream at night of what life with more cabinets would be like in my tiny mountain home because the current kitchen is ehh umm "campy" at best 😂. The plan you briefly showed with the 2 large side units and double set of lowers is exactly what I need. I Sir, am envious. Bravo.

I always enjoy this type of video made by real professionals. Nothing against many of the other channels with well produced videos, but watching a pro in a pro shop, is so much more satisfying. Takes me back, and makes me feel at home. So many things to love here! That gang drill 😆!!. We had a homemade one from the 1930s, but it wasn’t for shelf pins 😏. I’ve been a professional woodworker all my life, but just started building cabinets a couple of years ago. Of all the videos I’ve watched, this gave me some of the best technique ideas. I’m looking forward to watching the rest of your content. Please keep it up!

When gluing the piece to the front of the shelf, utilize a hardwood board the thickness of the shelf and nearly as long as the trim piece being laminated to the shelf front to assist in lengthening the short shelf back edge. Lay the hardwood board on flat on the short side (rear) of the shelf. Clamp from the middle of the laminate first. Use two additional clamps to clamp the remainder of the laminate. Ease BOTH clamps so they are touching the front of the shelf and the hardwood board BEFORE attempting to apply pressure. Add pressure appropriately and add more clamps if necessary. I use cabinet clamps so 3 clamps will suffice for a 22” laminate. This is a great video on constructing wall corner cabinets.

it's interesting to see how others work, we all end up at the same place In the end, I used to use a cabinet saw years ago, have the same one still, but I bought a slider many years ago makes life so much easier and faster. are you able to get inserta hinges? I have switched brands due to my vendor never having Blum in stock anymore. I am not sure I will go back when they fix the suply chain issues,

Thanks!! Good idea I can definitely discuss that side of things . Its quite simple really. It just comes in by having a long track record of delivering a good product. It has to do with building relationships over the years with builders and designers . Once they trust you they sell and bring in the jobs for you because it benefits them . Also being reasonably priced is important too. I’ve even had to turn down jobs when too many come in at once. Definitely grateful even though it’s been hard at times keeping up.

Dear Mr. Wise (if that's truly your real name!) Your corner cabinet video answered a bunch of questions I had/have. Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge. I think I will build this one first, then the run of wall cabinets on either side. It took you almost 24 minutes, so I figure in 3 days I should have something put together! Thanks again. Yes that’s definitely a plan for a future video ! I have so many video ideas and so little time . Eventually will make it happen . Mr. CW, did you ever make/publish plans? I'm a DIY woodworker and kinda got lost of where to cut and what dimensions. I think the top and bottom were 23-1/2" x 23-1/4". Side panels 13" wide with a bevel. I think I caught the face frame was 15-1/2" wide at the widest part of the 22-1/2 deg bevel. I'm an old codger and used to sketches/paper plans and after watching your video 5 times I'm still not sure where to slice open my $150/panel plywood. Thx

Nice work, but how did you manage to get shelves into the unit? (assuming they follow the same profile as the cabinet)...
@cabinetwise

Should have included that! Oops . I use the base platform as a template and deduct 1/4” to get my size. It gets in just fine , but needs to be angled in at entrance and spun into place

Thanks for making this video! I'm a DIY building one for my house, would it look weird to build one with different side depth? I have two different depths of cabinets (Left side 20" and the right side 12").

No it would be ok to do different depths each side . Whatever the situation requires.

Great video, I have a question I was hoping you could answer. Why do you measure 3/4 inch on your bottom for the wall and then come back out another 1/4 inch before you cut? My sides or walls are 1/2 inch and face frame is 3/4. Would I need to still come out another 1/4 inch like you did in your video. This part is not well explained. Also any possible way to show how you did the interior shelf after this cabinet was assembled?
@chuckbllrs3844
@chuckbllrs3844 Год назад
Great job! Subscribed and Liked! I'm building my own cabinets, i'm starting my upper's and really like your cleat/build style technique. I'm using 3/4" and plan to paint (roller or spray - haven't decided yet)... I was wondering what the type of material used. 3/4" ply Birch? Baltic is 159$ for 5x5... :( - Is the Face frame Popular or maple or other? Also, are all your upper cabs 1/4" sides? Would you use 3/4" sides for the end cabs on a run or still use 1/4" sides? Thank you, Chuck
@cabinetwise
@cabinetwise Год назад
Hi ! Thank you very much! I’ve been super backed up with work lately but finally have a new video coming out tomorrow . We use 3/4 maple plywood for the boxes . The paint is sprayed , conversion varnish (not by me ) designated painter we have . Face frames for paint grade are usually alder , sometimes maple . Backs are 1/4” maple ply. The core we can in this case has 2 backs , one on each wall , they are each 1/4” ply . The sides are 3/4” .

Your dog is cool. Dogs are the best. You make good looking cabinets. I cringe you don't use a push stick with your table saw. You could not react quick enough if the board were to grab or kick back and, boom, serious injury. Eye protection is also a must. One additional comment, on the long vanity, that knot/flaw in the left false drawer front is all I could see. Did the clients say anything. Use another board, man. Keep making videos please.
