Hey Dan!, I say paint the T. You come this far you might as well go all the way, just as far as you can to get this thing looking really really sharp. You know it's a keeper and it's going to be with you for a long long time. So be happy and get the car happy make it look as good as it possibly can. That old piece of yard art deserves it. Long Live T-Wrecks!!!!!!😷🧻👍
Definitely paint it, it’s beyond patina and since your doing that custom back vent thing this could be a cool show car but even just a Matte black would look good
Paint the body flat black with red pin strips . Then paint the rims and the frame red with white walls tires. But it's your car do what you will like in the long run. Thanks for the awesome videos. Be safe out there.
Dan, this project is getting better and better, I would go old school red oxide primer, but you do what makes you happy, keep the videos coming brother, thanks again, Mike from Long Island...
Flat black with old school pin striping. I have an old model T door hanging in my shop that someone stenciled A. Capone Brewery, Chicago, IL. on it. It's fun.
Man ive been binge watching your vids since i found them on youtube a few weeks ago. ive subscribed so have some catch up ahead. your model T is a cool as hot rod . your doing an awesome job of explaining and showing everything in great detail . your yard your fence your driveway your garage..... Awesomeness everywhere. Keep it up guys. The best vids on the tube are yours.
looks good with mixed paint gives it the look of many years of patching and repairs looks great ,,,,darkers reds hide more dents ,go with what you like bro its all you ,,,great work stay safe
I love the way it's turning out.. Your doing one hell of a job.. The doors really blew my mind away.. They were pretty bombed but you did your touch and did a fantastic job on them. It's going to be awesome.. And with all your other cars looking like the old school look. Maybe this one should have a nice paint job done. But that only my opinion.. Keep up the great work.. And like always.. Keep the wrenches on turnin and the tires on burnin..
DD Speed Shop hey anybody can it just takes patience.. Just a little practice and patience.. Just remember it's only a piece of metal.. It can be cleaned up and redone.. But you can do it.. With the way you work.. You have a great mind and ♥️for it... You got it into you my friend..
Okay, Your T is really starting to take shape. and looking good thus far. A couple of things, first, there is a slight curve in that panel which you could have duplicated by forming it over a piece of 6" pipe. If it where mine I would do it over. Second, I would shorten up the rear axle a little on both ends so that the tires are within an inch of the wheel tubs. Makes for a cleaner look. And yes, I vote for some paint even if it is a satin sheen. Keep up the great progress !!!
I have an idea for the louvered panel. Use an old style T-shaped, keyed garage door knob and then alter the back side so it has a flat tab that engages the lip to secure it. Or if you want you could actually make it work like it does on the garage door and have a rod on each side that goes into a hole on each side when the knob is turned. It's a very inexpensive solution that I think would work very well to give you a locking trunk area. And those T shaped knobs would match the period of the car as many of them had T shaped handles.
Thanks for the entertainment. T wrecks is coming together nicely, Good choices for your build so far, so I imagine good choices will continue. Enjoy the build & increase your knowledge as you go.
man its getting that king of cool look ..I wish I had your energy im 67 & still do a lot of fab work on motorcycles now just not in the same day.. great keep up the videos oh yea I love the rockabilly music ive went back to that in the past few years its real music.. gary in ohio
HEY Dan ! things are lookin' mighty fine.Big difference having a tail pan.For paint you could just do the Tremclad route .I've got new wire wheels you could fit on that nice blue angle grinder you have to take off as much of that surface rust as you can .Check online for a recipe for a paint /thinner mix and roller it on with a 6 inch lint free roller.Try the red oxide primer first then if ya want to... pick a color. It will be thicker than spray bomb. Their black comes with 3 choices flat, gloss and semi gloss.I"m sure you'll figure it out, and it's easy enough to change. You could also with your bead roller make your own license plate shaped piece of sheet metal ...louver it ...and put "DD Speedshop" on it. Don't see anything illegal about that.I'm not back to work til Tuesday , yup I'm a yapper, and I need the break.
I realize I'm late to the party, but there was/is a panel below the window. The trunk is a simple single curve. the panel can give a place to put hinges. BTW, I've only caught a couple of your vids, but enjoy watching you work the frame and refining the top chop.
Hey Danny, I like the looks of the rear panel, coming out great. I would love to see the car flat black, like denim black. The denim (flat) would also hide any imperfections LOL. Have you thought about putting a Nerf bar on the back (as a bumper) like they did back in the 50s/60s? Just a thought. Looking great buddy. - Later
Yeah its coming along nice and I'm with you there's enough body work to where it wouldn't look right with out paint but u can flat black it with some fake wear spots and fake rust that it will look super awesome like primer it red oxide then flat black then kinda sand spots back to the red oxide then clear it all or just leave as is that thing will look awesome I think like that and maybe paint your logo on the door and age it some kind of way and that thing will be badass and maybe you can sneak a big cam in it for the cool sound and you will have one super cool cruiser
Great content as always, hope you and your are well. Thought I would throw in that the red oxidized looking primer would look good on this build and I agree the tail needs no louvers or it would look too busy back there take care :)
Deck lid/lower panel use two 'L" shapes that fit together/overlap in the correct orientation [gives strength to the lid and something for the bottom to butt up against; if it ever came to it, it also gives a place to fasten adjustable stops so to control how far down the deck goes (in/out/flush)]. Assuming hinge action is at the top. The difficulty with installing and rolling/shaping on the car is not that it can't work its that there is always some pressure/stress on the metal and you never know where exactly it is, to what degree it is and, perhaps more importantly, what it will do. Example, hit a bump and it might oil can the other way. IIRC from the live feed you cut holes in that lower rear panel to put lights, guessing the metal moved a fair bit as those holes will relieve any pressure in that immediate area. You saw the other up locally, funny how the patina looks the same. Near identical, more pink/brown than rust.
Wow going together fast. Not sure of inspections there but. It would be very hard to get a inspection/license plate here without a muffler . Good LUCK.
Yeah I'd paint it so it will help preserve it cause it doesn't need anymore rust can do some flat black with some fake rust like u did on the truck it turned out nice
Kinda like those tail lights (style) maybe recess the plate but not to deep? Section above the deck lid looks like a tough repair (trim/body line) but really enjoy watching your work and cool project.
Love your videos... I'm trying to bring back a '56 Rambler Wagon from the Dead... Needs a bit of floor work knocked out some of the major dents... Hoping the Drivetrain is good... Still haven't heard the engine run. Mostly just cleaning it up it sat for a long time in a Very Dusty environment.
@@DDSpeedShop It's obvious you have the skill level to make it happen. Blue, maybe Green or Yellow; with chrome headers and some chrome on the engine. Black interior, wow, what a car. But the metal work you do is awesome and goes with the flow. Thanks for sharing.
I have 5 "drop in" anchors set in my garage floor that I use to attach my winch to...easiest way to pull cars in...without them, it is almost impossible to move cars around...just requires a hammer drill and a concrete drill bit...they sit flush with the floor and you just use a large bolt to screw into them which is the anchor for your winch.
Go on Goonzquad. They're doing a box truck as an off road camper. With an olive drab, flat black, flat beige and flat cranberry paint scheme , they rattle canned a camo scheme that looks awesome. How many "T's" in camo have you ever seen?
Here is just a thought because I haven’t seen any do this. When making a panel, be it a rat rod or whatever so here goes. Make a cardboard template of the panel you want to create and then go to your junk yard with you template and compare body panels til you find a panel that matches your template. Then ask how much to have the skin cut off. It could match your whatever and you would have to figure out whatever you might have to bend flat metal to recreate the panel you need to create.
I like the rustic look as it is! Wouldn't it be better to leave the front axle as is? You went to a lot of work fabricating and mounting supports and linkage. The stance of the T with the slicks on is great.
I stripped my 55 Chevy to bare metal in 2006 and Black epoxy primered the whole thing thats a neat look but will come out somewhat glossy but will fade in a short time in the sun which is cool.Maybe just flat primer the whole thing in black or grey like your 55 Chevy the multi-rust look Nah just my opinion one solid color looks great. Hey how about a Piss Yellow primer if they have such a thing like John Milners car from American Graffitti,LOLL.....Glenn P.
