I honestly just watch your videos because I find them incredibly satisfying and amusing, even thought I have no almost no interest in wood working. The cinematography is perfect and I love how raw all the sounds are. Keep it up! Great work :-)

Nothing beats super skinny pins. So nice, and machines just can't do em. Actually Im not sure, there probably IS some sort of machine/powertool method out there that can replicate super thin pins. Anyways, awesome video and build as always Andy!

Love it. I would make the pins wider and the dovetails thinner. Closer to semtrical. I feel it should be a sturdier joint. And I like the look better.

Just a question about your dovetails. As I see a lot of dovetail ends are cut about the same size, but yours are quote large on one end and the other skinnier. You find this to be better structurally? I'm just curious as I am just getting into woodworking a lot more. Great videos.

Hey Andy, enjoy your work! However, it appears to me that you might be developing a carpal tunnel injury in your right hand. The reason? I shake my hand just as you do and I have CT but from repetitive key strokes on a computer keyboard. Just an observation!

Absolutely beautiful, how long did it take to make all the tongue and groove fit that nicely?
@TYLERTRANCE
@TYLERTRANCE 7 лет назад
Wood is flexible so if there's minor imperfections (>0.5mm) or uneven cuts, it'll still fit. Any tiny gaps will be filled with wood glue.

Andy, I'm sure you have answered this question before. Why don't you use the Japaneses saws? I can practically hear the extra friction you are getting with that thick miter saw. I'm only asking because your skill level is so much higher than mine that it can't be measured with any device is existence today.

@Cadwaladr

Narrow pins and wide tails are very fashionable, probably because you can't cut them that way with a router, though they have a history that goes back to at least the 18th century from some pieces I've seen.

It strikes me as funny and weird that you will wear a respirator when dealing with fine dust but I have yet to watch a video with you wearing safety glasses. I don't always wear them myself just when dealing with fast flying debri or something molten
@AndyRawls
@AndyRawls 7 лет назад
+Jeremy Stamper you do make a good point, although I don't think it's funny or weird, more of just a bad habit and a little stupid. I should wear safety glasses anytime I work with power tools and most of the time I do. When I'm shooting video, I'm typically going back and forth from camera to machine, and I'll take them off and forget to put them back on. Got to get better at it!
