This is the Heavy hitter, a pattern originated by ‪@Svenddiesel‬ You can visit his channel to see the original variation, although the possibilities with this one is endless. This pattern is particularly interesting because of just how much weight this little fly packs! It makes for a great low profile dropper fly that can be tied as an attractor like you see here or to match the natural forage of scuds and sow Buggs as it was originated for. Add a midge behind it and you have a deadly tail water combo! If you fish the west, I would strongly recommend add a few to your fly box for when you just have to get that fly down fast. I’ll show a heavy weight fly that I prefer in the east soon.

It is, but that allows it to accomplish something that no other flies in the box can do. It can open up fishing spots and methods that are otherwise impossible to reach. But yes as you mentioned if not needed for that glass beads is a great replacement

Maybe others have said it, but I used to LOVE Mainely outdoors channel. The automated voice is disturbing on this channel. Tying the flies is amazing, but the automated voice is unfortunate in my opinion. I kinda feel bad for you Jesse, but whatever works, right?
