@@jonkung I had congee in Hong Kong and loved it🥲... but have no idea how to do it right lol This is Definitely something I'm gonna try bro!!! Thank you so much for always guiding your fan base through your food journey with you, it's a blessing and an honor 🙏🏽💯
@@jonkungso chicken powder is chicken bouillon? Use instead of chicken stock? What’s a solid “healthy” brand or to look for in the ingredient list? Thank you for all your help.
@@gerald9113 Not fully. Also, it's not just getting drunk that's an issue, it's that Muslims aren't allowed to support the alcohol industry at all. That includes purchase and sale of alcohol and products made using it. So even small amounts aren't allowed, even if you don't get drunk
thanks for this!!! it’s so hard to keep your favorite foods along when you’re trying to get fit but this looks sooo good! My mom loves congee but the ones her parents make isn't good for her to have all the time so I'll definitely try making this for her!
I find adding cumin to turkey meat really gives it a beefy flavor, if that's what you want out of it. Knowing how lean turkey is I tend to add some oil or fat to make it have the same mouth feel as hamburger. Love the channel and I'm going to have to try this recipe 👍.
I think you were the first RU-vid chef I ever followed. You really got me into cooking, more specifically cooking banging food that's generally healthier for me. I appreciate the work you do. Thank you Chef!
Was excited to see this! I use pulled chicken breast and oat bran (higher in fiber, and I like the texture better). It's been my breakfast nearly every day since August. Team Congee 💪 Do you have any suggestions for incorporating veggies?
Teochew-style preserved radish (as used in Chwee Kueh). The radish is often anglicized as "chye poh," "chai poh," "choi poh," or "cai poh," depending on dialect.
I'm so glad you posted this, I'm definitely gonna try it! I'm going through chemo therapy right now and one of the key changes I've had to make is to my diet. It's very important to eat things high in protein and fiber so I have enough energy both to still get around daily and to fight my lymphoma as well as chemo side effects. I'll try making it this weekend, thanks again!😃💕
I added lentils so I use less rice . I didn’t love it. But it’s an adjustment for health. Indian food has kitchari which Is delicious and healing! Good job! Will try Turkey too
When I was on a fitness kick I used to substitute any rice for plain oats and I did not mind. Food was fuel, but making it taste delicious is even better. Keep up the great content ✊🏻✌️
I'm so scared of trying congee because I grew up hating porridge here in Finland. I did warm up to oatmeal but rice porridge still haunts my dreams. Maybe this will be my introduction to congee!
Def going to try this for ground pork but i also discovered an EXCELLENT ground beef substitute. Just take ground turkey and leftover (cooked) chicken breast. Mince the chicken breast and add to the turkey then make a glaze of onions, balsamic vinegar, honey or brown sugar and then season to taste while frying. I also add in pureed mushrooms and pureed roasted-eggplant for extra moisture and added healthy stats 😂. Ive been using it instead of ground beef and no one ( not even my people who've claimed to not like ground turkey or white meat chicken) have been able to tell the difference!
Looks delicious, but wondering if a cube or two of ginger would cut some of the turkey funk; which is odd for me to ask because my favorite proteins are gamey meats like lamb and venison.
South indian here where we have our own version of congee with pretty much the same name, we just make rhyme with bungee. Anyway, some of my family avoids rice because of high blood sugar. Quinoa makes an excellent congee too
Can’t sub rice for oats that’s a no go for me, I might have to try ground turkey though. I normally use chicken. And maybe I’ll just use brown rice instead for it.
