You can use the thickness render to give volume. I usually use the duplicate layer because I export it for Cinema 4D and the UV and volume look better to my taste!

Mainly for animation use Marvelous Designer, it has better control for simulations and has a better timeline. In Clo it's easier to make the patterns and then make them real! They are compatible so if you use one program you can open the other and it respects everything you have done!
