MAKING A JIGSAW PUZZLE BOARD

We needed a jigsaw puzzle board that was large enough to hold our largest jigsaw puzzle, and then be put away when not in use. This simple project can be made in an afternoon and allows you to work on a jigsaw puzzle over time, bringing it out when you want to work on the puzzle and put the whole thing away when not in use!

Thank you for posting today! Most of the channels I sub to only post on Thursday or Friday. It's nice to see new content earlier in the week and not a flood on one day.

Late to this party but i LOVE this! My only dilemma is my wife and I i like to do puzzles that we glue and frame. Not just for fun to assmeble and then disassemble, and then assemble again at another time. Now thats just crazy. 😉 The dilemma is how to get the completed puzzle out of the box to glue and frame. I'm thinking one of the "rails" could be fastened with a hinge system that would swing down. Or swing out. Still thinking about that, open to suggestions. But love everything else about this video!
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 6 месяцев назад
Use some tiny magnets on one of the rails and you could just remove that rail when needed.

I might have done the holes for the handles _before_ attaching the side rails, unless they were an afterthought, of course. The countersinking would have been a bit easier. But great jigsaw board, I need to make one and this is the design I'm gonna follow. Most woodworkers I've seen here on YT want to overcomplicate with fancy angles, drawers and covers. This is all that is needed. 👍
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich Год назад
Yeah, I should have done the holes for the handles before attaching. Oh well, it worked! Thanks

I don't see the dimensions anywhere. It seems more like a track saw commercial. What are the dimensions?
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 18 дней назад
I probably didn't talk about the dimensions because it depends on how big of puzzles you want to use. Make it however large you want. So, me telling people who might not know what a track saw can do is a commercial?

I think that might be the nicest puzzle tray I've ever seen and you made it so accessible to make! I may need to make one of these for my parents cottage...my nieces tend to lose interest way before the puzzle is done, so this would be a great solution for those multi-day puzzling
@BruceAUlrich

I love it! I've been working on designing a puzzle tray, but I have way too many requirements. With my cats and dog and a couch that you can't slide anything under, I'm going to need a cover for mine. As with most things, I love overengineering. I love what you came up with though, fit's perfectly in your living room and looks really beautiful! Great job as always!

Nice project, Bruce. My wife enjoys puzzles too. Maybe I’ll make her one. Do you think 1/4” plywood will work? I need it to be bigger so I need to use light weight material.
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 3 года назад
I don’t think I would go that thin. You could do 1/2” though. And you could go thinner for the sides also.

You might have been ok shooting the nail in the corner if you kept the nail gun vertical instead of horizontal like the rest of your shots. It changes the orientation of the nail head. Great video. Just a thought.
@BruceAUlrich
@BruceAUlrich 3 года назад
I changed the orientation of those shots (good eye, BTW) so the nail would not come shooting out of the side piece. Then, this happened to the front of it. Ha ha
