Making a Kick Punch Through a Mix | Reason 10

Ok, U got some skills is a fact, let me get you an advice, never touch the fader as you show. For a better mix you have to know the proper"GAIN STAGING", so to do that use the GAIN knob at the top of the SSL mixer, because the fader you usually use is for only the effects, automation etc... Mixing is a technique that takes great ears to master. I don't apply mixing techniques to any beats that I do simply because I don't think my ears are trained to properly mix. I usually hand off my files to an experienced mixing engineer who handles it for me. I liked your tutorial by the way. Great information.

You want saturation or a soft clipping plugin to decrease the crest factor in your transients. You don't want big transients. You want small transients, because when it's time to run it through the maximizer, it's the transients that will trigger the maximizer to react and cause a gain reduction. so you to get saturation or a soft clipping plugin and apply it, looking to keep the volume, but decrease the size of the transient. This is why you always want to keep an eye on the peak meter. The peak meter measures the size of your transients. The smaller the transients, the louder your beat will end up being.

Nice work. Quick question about clipping though- Reason made a video recently saying there's no such thing as clipping in reason because it's 64 bit for limitless headroom. So wanted to see if it was necessary to turn faders down and ignore the red from that track but not ignoring any red from final master output track.
