I have watched a few of your videos and you are very talented. I used to watch The New Yankee Workshop. Sadly, the host Norm Abrams has retired. I do wood working in my spare time. After I retire from my career as a Mechanical Design Engineer I want to devote more time to this. I may try and teach my grandson the art of wood working. 어젠가 방송에서 본적이 있는데 문짝을 좌우로 밀고 다시 문짝을 문지방 레일에서 살짝 들어 벽쪽으로 붙이니 공간이 문짝으로 제한되는 공간이 완전히 넓어지는 기능을 본적이 있는데 결론하면 문짝이 문지방에 걸려 있는것이 아니라 미닫이에서 여닫이 기능까지 하려면 한옥 문짝을 제작하는 곳에 찾아가 어떡게 설명해야 하는지 아시분 분 관련 영상이나 사진 제작소 알려주시면 감사하겠습니다.
Beautiful piece excellent craftsmanship. Question: Why wouldn't you cut the dados 13:10 while the board was solid then just rip it into strips rather then cut the strips then tape them together then dado them?
When using a mortise machine always try to have wood on all four sides of the bit when plunging....It keeps the mortise bit from wandering. I used to cut the mortises in line like you do and then I was shown to do it the other way. It works much better
Are the chisels and plans you're using a Japanese style? If yes, what brands do you use? I love the quality of your work making these projects that are very handy in the home. I watch a lot of Korean tv shows based in ancient times and I much enjoy the beauty and practicality of the furniture.

안녕하세요. 어제 다른 영상(수건함 만들기)에서 답변을 잘 들었습니다. 사실은 저가 한국을 떠난지 30년이 넘는지라 어려운 단어들을 잘 몰라서요. (연목, 경목 그런거... 그냥 soft wood, hard wood 이런 게 더 익숙해진 세월이 되어 버렸네요) 작년에 은퇴를 하고 시골로 이사를 했는데 가구를 직접 만들어 보려고 해서 이런 저런 영상들을 많이 보고 있습니다. 응접실을 퓨전 한국식으로 꾸미고 싶어서 이 영상은 거의 매일 보고 있습니다. 이 자재도 미송을 사용하신건지요? 미송이라면 나중에 혹시 뒤틀리지 않을까 싶네요. 답변 부탁드립니다.
What was particularly dangerous about that cut? Are you talking about the angle on the bade? It was on open cut so there was minimal chance of binding and just the normal risk of kick back. I see nothing to get excited about.
@@randy-yk1yk Thanks for the reply and the question. The angle of the blade is not the issue I had in mind. Here was my thinking, whether it is correct or not. The shortest side of the workpiece is up against the fence, and at the same time the cut is a long way from the fence, so there is a lot of leverage and high chance of rotating the workpiece as you push it through. That would lead to kickback. Having said that, using the mitre fence and the rip fence simultaneously is an interesting attempt to mitigate that risk. As far as I am aware it is completely the wrong technique as now the workpiece is jammed on 3 sides if there is any binding. Just using the mitre fence would be much better actually. I suppose if it is a manmade material it is not too dangerous as there would not be any binding. What do you think? If i have got this wrong I'll be happy to edit the comment.
