Another in the series of videos presented by Tokyo-based woodblock printmaker David Bull, in which I talk about aspects of my work. This episode describes my experiences when making a reproduction of a Meiji-period 'kuchi-e' (frontispiece) print, back in the autumn of 2004.
An interesting aspect to the discussion is my 'best guess' as to how the kuchi-e were produced in such large quantities in short time periods, and an attempt to answer some interesting mysteries involved in their production.
