An absolutely gorgeous interpretation of the blade. The broad profile is also doing a great job of maximising chopping power in a relatively short length. You might find a larger blade with a more traditional profile interesting to make- as they get larger the dynamics in hand get very interesting and the distribution of mass while making becomes front and centre. Beautifil work a finishing touch could have been dying the inside belt loop of the sheath just to top it of but beautiful, wish i could create the same

Very cool build! Beautiful work! The only thing missing is the chopping logs and/or cinder blocks testing the edge retention. 😈 gotcha! I heard you mention that on the podcast and couldn’t help myself! 😎 great work brother!

Beautiful work! What’s the purpose of the ferric acid and distilled water mix? Is it to give a patina? Or does it have another purpose?

You have to use that to make the blade dark so that the stone wash stands out.

Why does my blade not harden after heat treating? I can still scrape marks into them with a regular file. Can anybody give me some suggestions because I'm at a loss :(

There could be a few things happening here. First, there could be a layer of decarb on the blade and its still soft, people tend to sand or grind that off and then file test it. You could also just file through it until it starts to skate the file. Second, the heat treat could have been done wrong. It happens more than people want to admit. Just make sure to do research for the type of steel and the heat treat recipe. Some steels are a pain to heat treat in a gas or coal forge.
