@@davehohman2323 Dave...just stumbled across your train video. Have to say its one of the best videos ive seen all year. Your love and dedication to the train hobby is deep and heartfelt. Happy Holidays, kind sir! ☃️🎄🎅
That should be a medical practice of exposing 4-7 year olds to a “village” of scale, with a cool, vintage train! They are mesmerizing to me and good for kid’s imaginations!
My grandfather passed this year, and his basement held a huge train village similar to this, but he added to it over ten years. This really made me feel safe, thank you.
This is not a hobby but more like an addiction. It is amazing how nothing is out of scale. The cost is not something I could imagine. Just an amazing collection and amazing video
Have to say I just happened to come across your video here by chance and was just blown away. I want to thank you so much for letting us have a chance to view your , I'll say Masterpiece . After working 40+ years and retiring from Norfolk Southern Railway you don't realized how much I really just loved watching every second of this. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort you put into this to bring much happiness and pleasure to us that get to see it and enjoy it. I sure hope you leave it up year round so you can enjoy it everyday with your friends and family. Again, thank you so much and want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!
This is so incredibly original and something worthy of Disneyland. I want to shrink myself down to live there! Absolutely magical and I hope you do something again this year.
All i can think about is how no one must be able to sleep in this little village...all those trains must be rumbling all day and night. Those poor carolers have to scream sing at each house for them to hear!! I love this!!
This would be amazing if it were a permanent display; but to actually see you construct this from scratch is truly incredible. You are the da Vinci of the model train world, a Lionel Leonardo!
Truly a labor of love. This year I considered putting my village on RU-vid but I think I'll reconsider after seeing this one lol. I did three levels with about 40 buildings and I felt proud of it. Really fantastic job man
Put yours on RU-vid anyway! People like us who do Christmas Villages love to see what others look like, get new ideas and dream of where we would love to take them.
Our village keeps growing. It takes up about ninety percent of the den. We have 50 or so buildings now. We do have a train but a small one. It’s a bit of work but pales in comparison to this guy. This is totally amazing.
I think we can all agree that not only is the village wonderful but so is the background music that goes along with it! If you build it, they will come...in this case, our views! Christmas village? Nah, this is a Christmas CITY because THIS is some impressive stuff. I mean it even has BILLBOARDS! This year we opted to put up my Lego Christmas village (the Lego Creator 10245 Santa's Workshop set and 40159 Gingerbread House set) at the bottom of my tree and then have my Disneyland monorail playset go around it. I enjoy doing a Christmas village because it makes me dream of designing the perfect, accessible and pedestrian-friendly community. Setting up a Christmas village is when we all unleash our inner urban planner.
It's wonderful, and I love the man cleaning his driveway with the snow blowing machine and Santa in his sled being pulled by the reindeer circling in the air. I have a video with a ceramic town I made a couple of years ago. I have a HO scale train for the town but couldn't fit it on my counter, but it has streets with vehicles and a car show. Merry Christmas
Wow! Wow! Wow! This is incredible!!! My husband and I watched this video in awe. The hours spent in designing all of this, putting it up, hooking everything up to power, making sure it all fits, putting all the street lights, figurines etc. This needs to be in a museum. This is way better than any train village that I have seen on display. What a treasure to see this. Thank you for sharing your labor of love with all of us. Merry Christmas!
Seeing this video, I am back with my nose pressed to the department store windows watching the trains circle the artificial winter scenery. THIS dwarfs that whole event. So very glad that some of us kids never truly grow out of the joy of the holidays. Thanks for facilitating a very precious memory! 🥰
My first job was at a scale models store that catered to model train enthusiasts. These people are not normal, but they create amazing scenes, and are dedicated to their hobby. Much respect!
What was so engaging to me were the tiny little details you put in, like the guy using the snow blower, even the advertisements on the billboards. You created an entire miniature world. I don't think there's anything like this in the entire world.
Finally, there is hope in this world for 2023 !!! It's a small world after all !!! ( Disney song !!) Thank you for keeping the child in all of us alive !! Simply marvelous!!!!
My husband is a train fanatic since his childhood. He found your video today and we both had fun watching this. Hope you will be able to do this again this year 🥰
This is the most beautiful train village that I have ever seen. Will be watching any other ones on this subject that you have done. You need to re-release it this year under Christmas Train Villages to get thousands of more views.
That's not only beautiful, it's practical too... What a way to tell that one relative NOBODY wants at the table, there just wasn't room this year. lol it looks like a lot of work but what you ended up with is really spectacular... MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS.
Dave, my Father collected Lionel from the 1950's on. It brings tears to my eyes that he is not here to see this beautiful effort of love. This was perhaps the most enjoyable 18 minutes of my life. For all Lionel enthusiasts whose jaws hit the floor watching this video, let me say thank you from every fiber of my being. I grew up in St. Louis and would have paid a hefty admission to see this in person. Thank you again sir and have a very Merry CHRISTmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Blessings from Kansas~
Unbelievable. What child would not want to get a sleeping bag and pillow and fall asleep right next to that with the sound of trains. The amount of time and work put in is incredible.
Dave, I don’t think words can describe what I just saw! Awe inspiring, unbelievable attention to detail, absolutely beautiful don’t even scratch the surface. Thank you for sharing your artistic ability with us. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!❤❤❤
All I can say is "Holy Hell!". I have a Dept 56 North Pole Village with about 60 buildings and 100 or so elves so I know what those buildings cost. We're basically looking at a 401K with lights. I also love the idea of starting it on the floor rather than having to build a support structure first. I may try this on a MUSH smaller scale. You are truly an inspiration and your hard work is much appreciated by all. Merry Christmas!
Although this is an absolute masterpiece in every way imaginable, it’s the tiniest care for details that catches my eyes. Santa swinging away in his hammock had me grinning ear to ear! Thank you for taking the time to share your creative talent! Merry Christmas!
@@_xiper No idea of total cost. Couldn’t even begin to estimate. It’s a lifetime collection and I’ve never tried to figure it out. Thanks for watching.
My brother David had the dickens village which took up an entire room. Even though he loved trains, he never had any in his village. He would have LOVED this! Amazing.
This is a very special scene, something you could watch for hours. Would be great of a night time to watch the city lit up. A labour of love. Congrats.
So awesome!! I wish Christmas felt like it did as a kid… then I watch this and it makes my heart tingle of joy for Christmas and Santa and all the good stuff!!! I feel 5 years old again after watching this masterpiece
My heart is filled with joy watching this amazing display, it’s a city not a village!!! So beautiful and thanks for sharing this with us. I hope are able to continue to Bless us with this in the years to come.
❤️Dave you made one dazzling, spectacularly engineered work of art. The automated Christmas decorated village complete with the Lionel trains is a joy to behold. What a tribute to the happy birthday of Jesus! 🌟❤️🎉 Enjoying from Roatan, Honduras
I sure hope someone appreciates all the time and effort to make this! I would like to see it have a permanent display and watch a video of the children enjoying it! Maybe it can be where children are waiting to see santa in a mall!
Wow!!! What a display! Takes you back to being a kid when certain department stores used to do that for the Christmas season. Thank you for sharing all your hard work. It is truely very impressive.
Just finished putting up my Xmas layout. It took days for me to put it up, and I've been tinkering with it for weeks. Mine is probably about 1/50th to 1/100th of what you have going on there. Amazing you did that in 21 days. It's so well thought out and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing, your lifetime Hobby is such a gift for others to see.
glad you enjoyed the video. Every year is different last year was 25 days. This is is 21. next year might be 30. However long it takes it is a lot of work. But I enjoy it.
@@davehohman2323 If you don't mind telling me. What do you use for snow? That looked really easy to work with. I was thinking about incorporating that into my layout.
@@indynoir2178 I use 100% cotton quilt batting. Make sure it doesn’t have any type of glazing or coating on it. It’s is getting harder to find. My go to brand stopped making the one I liked. Polyester just doesn’t work as well.
Hard work pays off if you’re patient enough to see it through. And this, my friend, is a beautiful sight. You added that touch of magic that the holiday season brings. Well done! Reminds me of the fact my grandpa rebuilt Pyongyang from scratch as the result of bombing during the war. I'm taking notes as we speak to better design our capital city. We have the world's second-largest stadium (previously first), monuments of my family and our party, a pyramid-shaped hotel that towers the rest of the skyline, and a captured US spy ship, so we definitely need some more magic.
Thank you so very much Dave and Julie! You absolutely made my Christmas the very best it could be. You should have a Christmas time walk thru to view this display in person or so those of us who remember a different time could walk our Grandchildren thru the villages. Charge a handshake and hearty Ho-Ho-Ho as admission to the big event. What a tremendous work of ART and incredible investment in Trains, Villages and all the rest of the equipment, odds and ends, and electric power to put on the Show. Merry Christmas and a most wonderful New Year to you and your family. ~Ken
Hey Dave ,you put countless hours which must have taken you many days to setup this amazing holiday project. It's so beautiful. Thank you for sharing this work of art!
I'd love nothing more than to come home to this just to escape all the bs, and sit and stare at this for hours. Absolutely stunning, I wish there were a long video of this, so I could put it on loop. Thanks for sharing my friend! ☃️
This is absolutely FABULOUS!!!! Omgosh! What a lot of time and work went into this incredible Christmas village ! Thank you so much for sharing this to all of us. You are brilliant and so talented! I am beyond impressed! 🎉🎉 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎉🎉🎉🎉
How amazing. My wife and I used to set up our "village", which was about the same size, but it just got to be too much. I think your set up is absolutely amazing! Love all of the trains. We always had problems with trains - getting cotton or other fibers stuck in the tracks. Hope you keep this going for many years to come. I am sure everyone who has an opportunity to see this in person is just in awe. Well done!!
Wow, this is incredible, I build Christmas villages, but I’ve never even dreamed of something like this, it’s incredible, you should be very proud of yourself
I love all the sentimentality and nostalgia, that goes with the season and our love of Lionel trains. You’ve got a great collection. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing display. My 2 year old son and I watched the whole thing. He said that he wanted to go there! Well done, and thanks for spreading Christmas cheer!
Merry Christmas Dave and Julie. Thank you for the nostalgic rewind. Beautiful job and your attention to detail is amazing. Can't wait to share this with our Grandchildren. Brad and Vicky.
Awesome work. I always loved just standing and staring at these kind of displays of any shop that would put them up. Going to have to find my old sets and get them running again!
The sights, sounds and even the smells of Christmas in my youth have just flooded my memories. Thanks for sharing this with us. Hope you and your family are enjoying a great holiday. Cheers.
WOW! It was fascinating to watch how this all came together. What an honor to us all that you would share this labor of love. It takes a very special person who would take the time to create such an outstanding experience for his family, friends, and strangers to enjoy. For just a little while, you took me on a magical train ride through Christmas Town. This is what I call CHRISTMAS MAGIC!!!
This is incredible and I’m so happy I stumbled upon it. I have loved trains ever since I was a kid and your masterpiece made me feel like I was a little girl again, admiring my big brother’s Lionel layout, and feeling the magic of Christmas. I will be sending this to my two grandsons who will no doubt be watching this repeatedly until they drive their parents nuts. Thank you for sharing this. A labor of love and blessing for those of us who love to revisit the wonder of a childhood Christmas. God bless you and give you a measure of the joy you’ve given us!
Wow, Dave, what a show. Thanks for that. Here in Australia Lionel is not seen very often so it's even more of a treat. Best wishes for the holiday season.
I've never seen your videos neither know who you are, but God, one has to appreciate the amount of effort, time and money you put into this project. It looks absolutely amazing and that brought me joy by just looking at it for a few minutes. Thank you for doing that and sharing it with us.
Hello From Texas - NOW !!!!!!!!! This out does anything I've ever seen for Christmas. Fabulous, magical, down right great !!! This has to go viral - send it worldwide, and let the Christmas bells ring. Love and hugs to you both, and your family.....
The kid in me went "wow." I hope you share this with neighborhood. The kiddos would love it. A local church has a display every year and they have a scavenger hunt for the older kids to find stuff in the display. It takes them a while to find everything.
Thank you for sharing this video with us. The amount of work you no doubt put into it, will appeal to hobbyists of all ages, regardless of the subject matter. Happy Holidays to you and yours. It's worth playing just to see it all come to life. The music just adds to the spirit, and theme, of your layout.
Wow, just saw this post and am absolutely blown away. What a beautiful way to celebrate Christmas. Lucky family to have a dad who is willing to put in the time and effort to create something so amazing. I could sit for hours and watch the trains go by. Congratulations on a job well done. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Absolutely love your village. I’d leave it up all year. So fun. Momma would put up a village around our tree and a train with a tunnel. The tunnel always gave her trouble, lolol. She would love your village. Awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Leaving it up permanently would defeat the purpose of keeping it special for Christmas. If it was up all the time it would become ordinary and that is not my desire. Putting it up and taking it down are all part of Christmas for me. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Ok, first I start by saying wow! The detail in everything being perfect is outstanding. I've never seen anything like this before, you took this to a whole other level!! Gorgeous work!!!
