"Hoarding is a way of life for crafters": definitely the most relatable quote there ever was. Also, your embroidery on this bodice is absolutely STUNNING and I'm in awe over your patience and ambition. As always, I thoroughly enjoyed your video!

I’m feeling called out and vindicated!! But really a couple of years ago I found these stunning emerald long beads they were even on sale! When I find the perfect project for them they might not be there and they won’t be on sale. Same with the other bits and bobs I have collected over the years.

Oh! This was really great. ☺️ Your dress was so satisfying. Would it be too forward to ask for more experimental embroidery projects on wearable clothes? I really loved watching you experiment and you explaining the thought process behind it. And please model your outfit idea with your tree bodice top. I don’t want to imagine it. Side note: it’s really amazing seeing historical silhouettes incorporated with modern hemlines. I hope this becomes a whole movement in our times.

I was planning to illustrate the other outfit ideas, but I ran out of time and it would have made the video late getting out. Another time, hopefully.

Well, see, now you've caused me a problem. Because I need to get cracking on my pirate costume, but this embroidery is just too painfully gorgeous not to try out. I already had an undeniable urge to make an 18th century gown a la Micarah Tewers. How do you expect me to focus? Honestly, mad respect to you for doing this in SIX DAYS holy carp.

Methinks a pirate might show their wealth with a bit of ostentatious embroidery? Perhaps a sash?

Sewing hooks and eyes to the inside of the bodice (or to the stays) and to the waistband of the skirts might be a good idea to prevent slipping! Bella Mae used that in her Cinderella dress and it worked great and was super clever.

My grandmother wouldn't throw anything away, going to charity shops and jumble sales, having tons of button and hardware taken from old bags and clothes. My own history of sewing and crafting I've done the same. Dipping into these box and tins have been god send over the year, lockdown especially! Non sewer or crafter don't get important of a good stash of haberdashery and scraps fabric and all good thing, they see it as clutter. But all treasures and possibility's for future projects and reinventions!

Two things: 1.) Now I totally want to make my own "Tiger Dress," and another with a Tree of Life on the bodice and other Celtic motifs elsewhere. 2.) QUOTE: "Hoarding is a way of life for crafters." /QUOTE Suddenly, I don't feel *quite* so badly about my huge yarn stash ... and embroidery stash ... and bead/jewelry supply stash ... and fabric stash .... 😂 I've been wanting to get back into embroidery, so this video was really inspiring. I also love your attitude that each project is an experiment and a learning process. 🤗 Thanks for sharing! ~R~ 💜

The thicker gold embroidery threads are usually couched down & not pulled through the fabric. It doesn't shred as much that way. I went down a major embroidery rabbit hole at one point lol. The tutorials I found here on RU-vid for gold work were really good!

Next time you want a chain in a hem, look for drapery weight chain. It is very flexible, made up of small weights covered in a cloth tube, surprisingly weighty for the size, and super easy to slide into a hem. Iz also comes in variety of sizes though the smallest would probably work fine for a dress hem. The dress is lovely. Thanks for sharing.

Morgan Donner just did a tutorial on her new sewing room. I'm about to order the same shelves for my sewing space as well because, yes, hoarding is a way of life for crafters. And since I haven't been able to find an appropriate apothecary-style set of drawers I can afford I just decided that modern Ikea stuff is going to have to work. At least I can paint and stencil them so they don't look like they came from Ikea.

hook and eyes could help keep the bodice and skirt together without having to based them together. I also have read that pair of bodies sometimes have grommet holes in the bottom in a few places so you could tie them to the skirt. Im glad your dress this time didnt have gaping problems like in the past. I love the fact that it is two piece since you can have a lot of versatility with it. That bodice would look so dope with billowing sleeves.
