For folks asking: (1) You turn by leaning your weight to one side or the other, just like a skateboard. Kinda. (2) The extra wood extending from the front is necessary for the machine to balance. Without it, because the ridder is seated towards the back, you would just lean backwards like a rocking-chair. For Ever. The alternative would be to put a brick or something in-front, but keeping balance will still depend on how fast you pedal -- you can see he doesn't stay perfectly centered throughout the test-ride. (3) It won't go all that fast like this. You could up the speed by introducing a series of gears or an internal combustion engine, but who has time for that? Who cares, it's still awesome!

Small thing I just want to say instead of using a shop vac and trying to get every bit of saw dust you could just sweep up all the saw dust in a pile and then use the shop vac, way less tedious
