Hi Tamsin! I love coming and dizzing. You are right you finish one part of the whole process and there's two more to go. We always make more work for ourselves but it is fun work! I have to say the basket of wool locks spun looks like a basket of hydrangea flowers! Take good care!❤
I adore your purple door! I like the chain ply. I like how the salmon shades has light and dark areas. Now if this was teal and purple my vote would be totally different. Hehe
In answer to you question .. yes . I liked all three on that sample they all looked great together ! Couldn’t help but chuckle when your moody yarn title popped up, immediately thought if it were mine it would not be moody but just have an out and out tantrum . 😊.
😂 you sound like me when I attempt any fiber\ dye\ spun\ work\ done project. Love it! Honestly this moody roving being in the middle of the chain plied skin you wanted vs the 2nd chain ply that's bright... I would strip the moody roving into 3 or 4 long ways before spinning. Then chain ply. It would maintain the middle man that transitions from the muted to the bright. But that's me. 🤞 If all else, flip a coin. Side A fir 2 ply, B for chain 😂 My hubby and son both know that if I ask for a coin... They get to chose for me 😂😂
I'm team chain ply I think the swisps of salmon in a bigger project would look great against the darker moody transition and teal colours. Thanks for sharing your journey with this project.
I prefer the chain ply, but you can also split the roving in two, make one part in chain ply the other in 2-3 plies. ... and it won't help you decide! 😅 I have a hard time filming my cats too, they seem to know when I'm pointing the camera at them and they stop being silly.
Ah Tasmin…. 2017 is when I also started my fibre journey! Although we’ve been sheep farmers all my working life, I never had the TIME to do much crafts (apart from mending etc). So, when I “retired” (cough cough), I decided to start experimenting with our sheep fleeces. 🫠 Love the colours you ended up with 🤗
Another vote for 2-ply. It'll tone down each individual color and bring things closer to the moody skein, which I definitely prefer. Chloe looking lovely in pansexual pride flag colors, there!
I would usually pick 2 ply over chain ply (my personal preference in general), but the 2 ply sample was very muddy. I guess it depends on how you want a finished project to look. 😊
Chain ply, but both are beautiful. I just think you can make a fantastic piece of fabric when there are larger pieces of colour all over. Sorry, I know that is not the way to say it in english, but I'm danish so my english vocabulary is definately not perfect :D
I love them both. I swear in some ways we share the same brain. Is this for any particular a project? Are you going to knit it or crochet it maybe weave it? Crochet I would go mottled 2 ply. Knitting it I would go chain ply. Weaving it is where it would be hard.
Always lovely to watch your videos! Can you please do a tutorial on chain plying please? I have a feeling you can explain how this works.., don’t seem to get the hang of it. 🥹
This is an old video of mine on chain plying. If it doesn't help let me know and I'll do an updated version. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O3cZ_siL9Uo.html
