I just got a lathe so I've been making some pens and bowls lately. I plan on doing videos on those eventually. If you're interested in that, you should follow my instagram. It's The Slingshot King
I think it's good that you left your mistake in the edit. So many DIY channels cut that kind of stuff and it make viewers think that they never make errors. Also great channel. Should have more subs.
Great vid! *a little tip* I wouldn't use Olive oil, or vegetable oil on wood due to because the oil goes rancid..... So, Tung oil, Rejuvinating oil, Walnut oil *Beeswax*, are great oils/ finishes to use. But try not to use Olive oil or Vegetable oil, because it WILL go rancid, and leave a unwanted smell.... Cheers!
Having a background in knife making, i would suggest putting the pins in during the first glue up when every part is still level and parallel. First put in the three sections of rod in the two layers of wood, then the one in micarta. If you lign everything up and clamp it in the middle of the handle area, then drill the holes out you will also have guide pins for the glue up. When you drilled the holes just build it from top to bottom (M-W-W-M).
From someone with 30 years of shooting slingshots do not shoot that fork those little nail will not hold during a pull and the fork will come back ay your eye ,we were talking about you on the forum you a good builder but there is no way the shooter is safe it may not broke first pull but it will break one day and without safety glasses it coming back into your eye,all the best you're a great builder buddy
Thank you, but I'm very confident that the forks will not break. It may be difficult to tell in the video, but the steel nails go all the way down each fork, stopping at about the center of the slingshot. On top of that there are two more nails that go through the center, which strengthens the wood at the crack and prevents it from splitting along the grain. This should make the slingshot easily strong enough for any bands, and I strength tested the forks with a 25lb weight to make sure.
omg your chanel has grown so much in over months that no powertool slingshot making video has over a mill views good job dude keep it up i commented on this video bc u turned off the comments on the video im talking about
so true this kid will make money the sound of handcrafted slingshots sounds so cool I think so many people will buy it not just on eBay but on amazon aswell
I know this is the wrong video to ask on but since it's your latest i probably have a better chance of getting an answer. What diameter did your template have on the fidget spinner you made last time? I've got the template but don't know what scale to print it on. Love your vids man!
Thanks for answering. I have a couple blades for my bandsaw so I should be good. For the wood so you know any websites in Canada that sell exotic wood because Rockwell doesn't ship their wood to Canada 😟
bro u should keep going and maybe make more vids on how to make other weapons cuz if u keep going u might even get to 1 million subs! and u might even be the next ZDN
Slingshot King, I have emailed you about buying some of your slingshots, tell me the name of the ones on sale and the price your charging, I live in the USA.
The mistake you made wasn't the hammering. It was at 3:32. Drilling the holes into the limbs made it structurally weak. This should've sufficed with two holes only, one in the base body and one at the neck, and *none ever* near the limbs.
