I have to echo that! It's very inspiring to see the love and care that you put into your designs and their execution. I had to leave my shop behind in the US when I came to the Philippines to get married. Up til then I had invested nearly 18 months into transforming my garage into a suitable shop and studio. It took a small eternity to level out the walls and ceiling, and finish the base coats of paint. Once that was done, installing the new lighting went fairly quickly. I was making progress on building my work benches and related fixtures, when I ran out of time. Looking forward to going back home, soon, so I can pick up where I left off. In the meantime I enjoy searching RU-vid for high quality content like yours. Thanks for sharing!
"Inspirational" is a word that comes to mind. A masterpiece of ingenuity and craftsmanship. And, like the pup, I love watching other people enjoy their work.
When you work (at least, what you are showing us), I see zen. You've got excellent tools, you have a good workplace, and what you do just makes sense. In dutch, we would say:"Je hebt het goed voor elkaar." You seem to enjoy making this, and I'm happy for you.
You sure have an awesome shop!. I just love your panel saw. I used one (different brand) for a number of years when I worked as a commercial cabinet maker. I wish I still had one.
I built your MFTC cart awhile back and love it. Such an incredible and well thought out piece. Same with your new cart. I purchased the plans and am really looking forward to building my own. Your skill with wood is phenomenal but have you considered expanding your range and learning to weld and perhaps machine? I can't imagine what you'd create if you were able to blend those skills.
Metalworking was in fact my first passion, I learned welding when I was 12 or so and we made our own equipment on the farm. But then in my 20's I discovered wood, which is much cleaner to work with. I'd like to do more metalworking again, if only to maintain my skills. I can't nearly weld as good any more as I used to.
thesergeant True story! I look forward to learning to weld, too. Its been on my mind for a long time, and I can hardly stand it any longer. My shop already has a welding circuit installed. Once I get home that's going to be a high priority.
I have to ask, even though you have probably answered this elsewhere, why did you quit woodworking. You are one of the best woodworkers I have seen and your shop is/was amazing.
Very nice shop and brilliant table. I’m debating now whether to divorce my wife and throw all the furniture out of the lounge and dining room and knock down the dividing walls in order to fit in a table saw like yours. (She’d probably end up with the house though knowing my luck) Failing that I wonder. Could you make this with half of an old hacksaw blade, a blunt 1/4 inch chisel and a broken pencil from the local bookies? I’m asking for a er, friend! All the best. Malc in the UK
In that video I was wearing a radio from Howard Leight, but now I'm using one from Hellberg Synergy that has bluetooth so I can listen to stuff on YT while working.
On the lift, portion looks like you used a shaper with not sure which bit.for those of us without a shaper, can a router table and whichever bit be used?
It doesn't seem to work in certain countries any more, could you send me your IP address by private message? That would help my provider to find the problem.
Stiff Wood Nope. It's a special cutter with a fancy arbor that has pins on it so it cannot slip, meaning a lot of braking force can be applied without concern for it falling off. That thing is closer to a cutter for a shaper than a saw blade, as it uses inserts and is huge. Also it's Belgium.
@Timothy Wilmots - When editing, consider reducing the volume levels by at least 50% when machinery is operating. Makes it easier on the viewers. Nice build though. Cheers.
I found it Felder calls it the X-Roll system. I was just wondering because I have a saw stop table saw (Lost of little kids in the house so I wanted some extra safety in case the little ones snuck into the shop and started doing things they shouldn't and was wondering if something like that was available for the saw stop.) Thanks for the reply. Your build videos are awesome.
