I’ve never spread lime with my litter bed. I guess you have the inverted V over the chain for spreading lime? How full can you fill the bed ? I’m guessing a full load of lime might be way to heavy.
Yes, we have a baffle (inverted V) that goes in the bed to keep all that weight off the chain. We usually put 6-7 tons in a truck when we spread it. You can barely see it in the truck bed from the ground when it’s loaded.
Definitely the tandem. It has the locking rear ends and it’s also an automatic. It’ll go a lot of places the single axle won’t all while hauling a heavier load
We haven’t personally grown alfalfa, but have heard from people that have in our area and haven’t had good results. We may try some one day. This piece of land that we planted in rye grass isn’t well drained. We decided to go with rye because we are pretty much guaranteed to have some hay off of it. Have you ever planted alfalfa?
It’s about 10 acres. It’s an odd field. It’s too small to fence in, but it has really good dirt. I think we may eventually cut silage on it. Hopefully for this year we will have some good rye grass haylage. Thanks for watching!
