Well Denise, you produced another awe inspiring video! I know there are viewers looking into their wallets and wondering how they will pay for more paints! I know in the grand scheme of life, watercolor paint toxicity is low on most everyone lists of toxins to eliminate. It is one reason I promote your Earth Friendly palette so much, a true step in the right direction! I do doubt I will be purchasing any of these colors, I spend most every paint purchase these days over at DaVinci buying paint I probably do not truly need. I do remember when I was much younger and more adventurous I created a palette for each of my colors. Yes, it was a bit un-weildly and having several palettes out to paint a small picture was a bit silly. There is something beautiful about an All Blue, Red or even Yellow palette! I hope all is well in your part of the world and that your doing fine. I look forward to see more videos with your distinct perfection and enjoyment of pigments. Please take care and be safe out there!

Caput Mortuum and Cobalt Turquioise are both definitely colors I would've loved to add to my Schmincke palette, to have some granulating colors to experiment with, but because they're so expensive I ended up getting their White Nights equivalents instead (I do love the two colors anyways so I don't regret it) I'd love to add either Galaxy Pink or Manganese Violet to my palette too, but I already have a butt load of purples so it'd be total overkill lmao (Forest Brown and Cobalt Green Dark are super pretty too, god)

The problem is, they look very nice but unfortunately they are toxic. I began to wonder if there was any color that was non-toxic and unique at the same time. Whenever I see a unique and interesting color, it always comes out toxic. By the way, I find this kind of information by searching, but it is almost never mentioned in many videos on RU-vid. It's sooo nice that you're talking about these kind of stuff💕

@my.lionart
@my.lionart 11 месяцев назад
@@Chamomile369it's not about eating them or not. Some shouldn't be in contact with your skin. Others contain heavy metals and are therefore toxic to the environment and the paint water must be specially disposed. That's why something you need to keep in mind when using paints with toxic pigments. And I personally don't want to have to keep all those things in mind when I use my watercolors so I only choose non-toxic pigments. Unfortunately though, sometimes paints' binders are toxic when breathing them in, top.

Ultramarine pink (pv15 or pr259), Schmincke French ultramarine, M.graham viridian, potters pink, Mars Brown, Mars Black, Winsor & Newton Aqua Green, and Ultramarine violet are unique granular pigments that aren’t toxic if you’re still interested in something like this! Also if you combine them you can get something similar to these super granulating mixes, Kim Crick has great resources on it.

While this was fun to watch, I find the paints are not my favorite granulating colors. I love the Daniel Smith granulating colors and primateks and find they just can’t be mixed or beat (although many would argue with me.) I did buy 3 or 4 of these single tubes but will go back to my Daniel Smiths. I do love love Schmincke paint though and have a beautiful 48 set that I love to use for watercolor. Thank you for sharing and I hope they serve you well.

I think I have to get that Manganese Violet! Gorgeous. I don't understand, however, why it's necessary to buy mixed pigments. I bought the Mahogany Brown pb33 and Violet pv62 (made with strontium of all things. I expect it's no longer radioactive!).Of course, I bought some of the mixed pigments, but that was before I realized they were mixed). I also wondered where the yellow went in your palette. There's a Schmincke volcano yellow py159 which is a soft yellow. Then there's W&N's Lemon Yellow and Lemon Yellow Deep which are both granulating. They could really extend the mixing possibilities.

these are really pretty. do you have any recommendations on how to dispose paint water btw? i researched a bit, i think i'm gonna put a plastic box in the balcony then dump my paint water in it. that way i can dispose the pigment when the water evaporates. at least it's better than dumping it down the drain lol

My palette's mostly Schmincke's, so I at least got some of the regular ones on it - the prices for the super granulating range tubes feel a bit steep for my purse and the tubes themselves a bit too big, hence none of those ^^' I know this palette's not really well-balanced, but I'm sure you'll continue to create great stuff with it :)

I just built a granulating palette of my own but I went with the base paints vs the mixes (with a couple of mixes I already owned thrown in since I had them). It's a LOT better to have the base paints as you can not only replicate the mixes you like... you can make your own, and you can use the paints individually. You also do not need all of the granulating pigments used.. many are extremely similar to another.. focus on specific color categories for best mixing... and of course you can use your existing "regular" paints for mixes as well. Generally the transparent colors wind up in the background while the granulators clump and give texture color. I combined buff titanium with cerulean blue the other day and it was really lovely.. soft and delicate but still with all the organic texture. Looked like I spend an hour sponging layers. I like them for backgrounds, they give an easy instant "macro lens" look to florals and small animals.

And that is in Germany, where we only ever used school supllies watercolors for art classes to paint. If these paints are so poisonous, why are they allowed to be sold, and why would anyone actually use this stuff or even keep them in the house, especially if they have children or pets?
