Thank you! It really depends... I made 5 attempts at this shape on the day I threw this piece and lost 2 of them. Some forms are more challenging than others, this is particularly challenging :)

I have also thrown less weight and that works fine. I’d like to throw larger. Thanks Matt

I recommend starting out with less porcelain, maybe 2-3 pounds, and then only move up in weight gradually when you're really confident with getting results from a smaller amount of clay. Also try throwing with slightly firmer porcelain. One other thing that you may be able to see in my videos is I typically keep my pulls slightly narrower at the top until I've pulled up all of the porcelain, and only at that point do I shape it into a cylinder.
