In this video I make a PTO adaptor to fit a cummins 6bt engine.
First job is to flame cut out a 140mm circle of 30mm plate on the old magic eye profile cutter.
After machining down all the bits in the lathe to fit together the shaft is then pre heated and welded into the plate. The part is then put back into the lathe to have the back side machines to fit the flywheel.
The bolts holes are then marked with a transfer punch and then drilled through.
Hope you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for watching!

I have found the school of hard knock teaches you more than most schools you pay for. Thanks for sharing!

The best engineers, welders and mechanic iv ever met are the ones who learnt on the job, not on the books.

Don't apologize to the trolls. You're doing the work.

One of those channels that once found you try not to binge all the back catalog of videos in case you end up having to wait ages for the latest one
@Bodie2020
Never apologize for doing honest quality work. Yes many of the RU-vid machinist will built the whole thing out of a billet but you did it the way you had to and it is not than satisfactory for the task it is required for!!

Getting more subscribers and a lot more views. So must be doing something right. The best form of training is doing. Too many think, including the teachers, that sitting watching them. Reading it in a book. Or watching a video. You can learn anything. As a tradesman myself for 42 years, all be it in construction. I can tell you this is rarely the case. No substitute for physically doing the job and getting a feel for it. The difference then between a good and bad tradesman is being able to learn from their mistakes and get progressively better. If I could start again with the knowledge I have now. And work for another 42 years. I reckon I could be a pretty good Carpenter.

If you’re worried about post heating try using vermiculite. It’s cheap & easy to get. Just put a load in a bucket, bury the hot part in it & it will take ages to cool down. It’s great stuff. Be careful though, that part will stay hot for a long while. Vermiculite is also very light, so put a lid over it or it’ll blow all over your workshop.

Brilliant work! Some of the best work is turned out by people who are not “trained” formal training doesn’t mean anything really. You are in the real world turning out quality work that’s all that matters.

Gday Oliver, I don’t believe this will ever give any trouble, as for your machining there’s nothing wrong with it, your having a go and getting the jobs done, that’s all that matters I think, I reckon your channel is going to grow big and in a short time, your content is interesting and there’s no bullshit, you can see you don’t change for the camera which is a great thing, plenty content creators do and think there shit don’t stink, just keep doing everything the way you are mate, cheers

It is a simple job in concept, but getting it right the first time is where experience shows.

Use larger diameter tig wire and feed the wire faster. Use a rotating table for circular welds. (Adapt a scrap wheel hub) Steady your torch hand by supporting the wrist on a block of wood or g clamp. Maintenance & repair is nearly always improvised all you can do is your best judgment which gets better over time. Good job.

Thanks for another great video, It's like I've said with some jobs I've done over the years. There is 5 ways everybody else says is right, but all that matters is if the way I did it works for a long term solution to the problem. Take care

For those who don't know, the flywheel is for this scooter at the end of the video

Great video, as always! Cutting Edge Engineering has a “how to” video on how he drills and taps the front surface of the lathe jaws, which allows him to easily bolt the copper soft jaws in so they don’t move on you. You may want to give it a try! If you do, please do it on camera!
