A long time ago (like 9 years) when i was around 12 years old i asked my mum for a portal gun replica i found for like 60 bucks, she told me to wait because the price will probably drop even more, and i'm still furious today when i think about it.

I have one of the NECA Portal Guns that I got at a relative steal from a friend a few years ago and I love it. This build is a very impressive substitute. (In case anyone was curious about the controls on that one, there's a sliding switch on the back of the grip that you can adjust with your thumb, between blue, off and yellow, and of course the trigger on the front.)
This was actually this guys last video, and somone else is wearing his skin and using AI voice for every video after this. He was hunted by a highly classified and specialized branch of the goverment for hyperfunctionality of a custom built device and Ilegal manipulation of/transport through space and reality.
Who would've thought that the portal I bought years ago would be this expensive now. Maybe I should sell the official portal gun that I owned for years
Wow, this is such a cool build! Seeing people actually build my design always makes me really happy so I hope you had fun and sorry for the mess. Btw. for anyone looking to also build their own version, I made a complete redesign where I addressed many of the issues (and there are many). I still didn't use velcro though, sorry 😝. Thanks to this video...I was inspired to be Chell this year. My journey has already begun. We've already printed the arms and the large plate cover. My bf and I are splitting the prints between resin (my job) and filament (His job) while I foot the bill, and have ordered all of the non-print pieces. I'll take care of construction, and he'll help me with the electronics. I'm honestly hyped :) Thank you for this inspiration for this fun collaborative piece to do with my boyfriend! I will say, for people going into this...it is still NOT Cheap. Especially if you want to add electronics. I just price checked all the parts and I'm looking at almost $160 in electronics ONLY. That's not including the filament, resin, paint, and primer. So far, mine has cost me $249

Wow, broheim, save yourself next time and buy yoself a deburring tool. Your hands will thank you and it will look nicer and more professional in the end. For the kind of stuff you're doing, I'm sure you'll get plenty of use out of them (you can buy a whole kit that works with different materials and directions, etc). Works on Metal, Resin, PVC Pipes, Copper, Plastic and 3D Printed Edges

Would it be possible to make one around a mini projector so you could project an actual portal on a wall? It would probably be a nightmare with the lights, sound, and the projector but it would be pretty neat🤷🏽♀️
No one can understand my naivety when i saw this and literally thought to myself "shit they invented portal travel" like it was a normal wednesday evening, before realising like 1 minute later that no, they did not invent portal travel.
I have one of those really expensive portal guns that they don't sell any more but I kinda uhhh left it in front of a window for a few years and now the whole thing is orange and it looks really really bad oops
Love this!! For the process of removing the filament lines with the whole filler and spray paint method, have you tried using plasti-dip? You'd still need to put filler on the larger cracks but the plasti-dip would fill in the rest of the surface pretty well and make it nice and smooth. If you wanted a high gloss finish you'd still probably want to spray paint it after but its really great for prop making!

Here's a cool idea: there's a mod for portal 2 where you can play it in vr. Wouldn't it be cool if there was a controller that looks like a portal gun?
I made one of these a few years back as well. Mine just had LEDs no sound but it was the first time I dealt with wiring stuff up like that. Yours is very cool I must say and I felt your pains in putting this together as I had a lot of the same problems.
