#WIW #ModelRailroad #Monster
This week, I made one of my most requested monsters and added it to my Imaginary Mountain Railroad. The monster I made is the Slide Rock Bolter, a legend from my home state of Colorado. The monster is described as looking like a whale with a hooked tail that slides down mountains on a slide of its own saliva consuming tourists. I sculpted the monster from polymer clay.

The craziest thing about Slide Rock Bolters to me, is the notion that they're supposed to build up so much speed on the way down, that they just slide up the next mountain to latch onto and do it again. So it's like skateboarding a halfpipe but mountains

It's the subtle details that really sell that layout. The autumnal shades of the ground cover, the ripples on the water, the giant stony carnivorous mountain fish.

I'm 64, and this is the first I ever heard about the Slide Rock Bolter. After pausing your video to Google this monster, I think you did an excellent job depicting this apparently well-known cryptid, and it fits your Wild Imaginary West perfectly! I also like the way you made it a removable part of your Imaginary Mountain Railroad, so you may tell different stories in the future. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Cryptid? Naw, mack, it's a folklore monster, made up by dumb people to try and explain freak rockslides in the lumberhills. There's a whole raft a' dumb critters sawjacks dreamt up, an' don't you believe a one of 'em. "Hodag" indeed. Pff!

I think The human-like front teeth fit quite well into the logic of this creature, since it would want to have it's tongue out, in order to salivate the slope most efficiently, which the blunt frontal teeth allow.

Looks phenomenal! The monster reminds me of a fish we have up here in Alaska, called an Irish Lord, there just a giant mouth with teeth and spines. Accidentally stepped on one not long after we moved up here and the toxins they carry in their spines made me sick for a few days, could add that to the back story of your monster, maybe add green tips to the spines? Would be really cool! ❤Love your work!!

Love this latest chapter to your Wild Imaginary West. Such a tragedy, the destruction of Rico; now just another ghost town, victim to monster incursion and human miscalculation. Did that poor ranger face the wrath of the survivors, or did he go out like a hero: on fire, with a curse and a smile on his lips?

There's a lot of cool Fearsome Critters that would fit well in your imaginary wild west! But I still want to see some Imaginary Mustangs someday. Magical horses who've managed to not only survive, but thrive in the Imaginary West, gaining some strange powers in the process. Incredibly valuable, but incredibly difficult to break in and nearly impossible to even catch to begin with.
