I’m gonna buy this game brother. I want to add for your personal head space and private mental gallery of places for your game I would highly recommend checking out the modern renditions of Myst and Riven and morrowind, shadow of colossus, and Elden ring, final fantasy 12 and the entire final fantasy Ivalice setting. The atmosphere in each of those titles is amazing. The reason I say these things is because I know you’re young but I also think each has respective strengths and legendary qualities that make them stand out games in the history of visual storytelling. There’s so many amazing game developers and I recommend looking at a few video game development documentaries just for inspiration in your journey. I think you’re highly talented, and I’m rooting for you.
I will definitely check those out ! It is has been quite a challenge and I am always looking for inspiration to help me along the way ! Thanks for the suggestions !
this is amazing, but would you consider giving the glyphs hidden meanings? maybe each glyph is tied to a word or letter, it could add some interesting depth to the lore of your environments :)
@ArdentDev Hello :-) Will you make an in-game editor for modding? And a cheat system that "helps" you to get stuff/stats? P. S. Do you know the Gothic series by Piranha Bytes? In point of skill system, it is a good example for skills (and how they should work) in games. You should also implement a way to brawl with everyone (Gothic-Style)... P. P. S. Your project is interesting... (that means it looks good) P. P. P. S. What do you think about coop-mode? Stay healthy and enjoy developing :-D
An in game editor would be awesome ! But it would be something way in the future, if I manage to complete the game then I would defintely work on mod support! I played Gothic a long time ago, i remember good things about it but I think i need to play it again to refresh myself :D I am glad you like the project ! Thanks for the support! I am not sure on coop, maybe in the future, but while I am a solo developer the more narrow I keep my goals the higher likelihood I have of getting the project done. Adding coop in a patch if people wanted it could be on the table but it would be quite complicated. Thanks for all the questions :D
Hey. Great video. Great idea with the dungeon. I'm also a huge fan of dark, spooky dungeons. My mates, for whom I am currently preparing a D&D campaign, said that if I prepare the dungeons and some places they will visit in the UE to make everything more visual for them, I should make an RPG for one or more players. Easier said than done. To create a complete RPG, there are a lot of mechanics to apply in UE 5 that I'm only now learning during my studies. Could you perhaps make a detailed video showing the workflow of how you created your assets? - Also the question. Did you model the glyphs plastically, or are they extruded in depth? I would be delighted to hear from you.
Hey man, the dnd idea sounds like fun ! I am not sure if I will make a detailed break down of my exact process right now. It isn't always a perfect art but I can give you a general flow. I make a 3D model in blender and handle the UVs there as well, I create a high poly model (if it needs one) in blender or zbrush depending on the model requirements. Then I bake the high poly to the low poly in Substance Painter and handle all texturing there. Then all you need to do it import your textures and models into Unreal ! If you want more information my first video goes over asset creation a bit more. The glyphs are just textures so they have no actual 3D geometry, they just have a base color and height value. I hope this helps !
Yes. Thank you very much. I'll be back with some more Information, when I'm home again. AT the moment I'm on a trip to a bigger gin tasting in Germany.
Hello, I'm back. The trip was absolutely great. I met a bunch of cool English and Scottish people during the trip. The tasting was a real experience. But I'm also glad to be back home. After really many discussions with my players, we agreed that the group will have 14 players and that each player will create two characters. This clearly means that I urgently need some kind of tool to keep track of everything. At some point I saw that there are some tabletop-type games for VR. I think I will now design something similar for my dnd round. With "physical" markers for initiative, HP, etc. I'm already looking forward to your next video.
