My only issue with using this lens distortion fix in post is that you lose a lot of the barrel distortion which is a key feature in this lens set for sure turning into a pin cushion which is less desirable. So I feel like for maybe an emergency or spontaneous shoot this would be an okay solution, but using a speedbooster to actually adjust the focal length to the correct field of view is the better way or just getting the 45mm FF if you have the budget and time to plan before the shoot.
It’s creating some pretty nasty pin cushion distortion with that distortion correction. Looks like you pushed it way too far. I think dial it back a little and crop a small amount. Keep some barrel distortion or at least keep it flat. You never want pin cushion unless it’s for a strong narrative effect
Looks great and what a simple solution! I agree the 35mm S35 was a strange choice for the series but they’ve also got a 33mm Remus Full Frame dropping soon as well. Although no front thread for filters.
very good! Could you tell me how these lenses work on the micro 4/3 sensor, on the Panasonic Gh7, in relation to edge distortion? Is it smaller or larger than on a camera with a full frame or super 35 sensor?
great work around but doesn't that make strong pin cushion distortion in the middle....... never mind lol kept watching the video and it creates a super interesting look!
interesting lenses. but it would make so much more sense if a video shot with an anamorphic lens would be exported in the proper format and not in a 16/9 with a letterbox
Yep, but RU-vid doesn't allow to add any interactive buttons on other aspect ratios than 16/9, I did upload some other videos in the proper aspect ratios for 2X scopes
@@MathieuStern sure, I get the reasoning but it's still a shame :) ...anyhoo great channel and great website I follow you from quite some time and it's always fascinating
Yeah you lose the barrel distortion and then it looks like super bad pin cushion. That is why they made this lens for s35. They already have an equivalent 45mm FF lens that will actually work natively with the FX3 and other FF cameras.
I wouldn’t advice people to use this distortion adjustment in PP because you then destroy the barrel distortion and change it to the awful pincushion distortion (something normally avoided. But hey if that’s your thing then of course do whatever meets your wishes 😉 (no bitching here, I like your vids)
