Like your Jackson Pollack, this is a work of art, I absolutely love it. I’ve just started up doing woodwork projects, when I become a little more proficient I will attempt something like this. I hope it turns out half as good.
Thanks JJ! (Not sure if anyone calls you that but I always liked that as a cool nickname) I think if you feel comfortable making straight 90 degree cuts, you can do this! This was sort of a measure twice / cut once project and a couple different wood varieties make the border interesting... Hope you give it a try!
Yes some of my friends call me JJ. You have inspired me to give this a go. I live in Australia so I will be using some native hardwoods. I’ll send you a photo when it’s finished. The pressure is on🙂!
@@julianjakobs4238 You know, I've used Australian Jarrah before in a couple of my projects. Hard to find in the states, but nice red color to accent lighter and darker woods. I think it left me with a few splinters... but then again that's how you know it's real wood! Yes, send me a pic and I'll include it in one of my blogs on thefamilywoodworker.com. It was double the money of my broken Delta contractor saw, but the usability of the features and the power of the motor even at 110V is pretty amazing. Glad I bought this thing...
Hi Michael! I used 186 different pieces, but that's totally dictated by the widths of the scrap pieces I happened to have. Skinny pieces? You'll need more cuts to fill up each row. Wider pieces=fewer.
