That was a very interesting video. The concept of the contact area being optimal for only spheres of certain radii makes sense. It would have been interesting to see the paper in the dark when you did that. Trying in in different gasses might be interesting too, to see what the effects of different atomic weights has. I believe there is a super bright flash generated when explosives are used with Argon gas. Perhaps you could put some Argon in a bag with the sphere and clank them together; it should be safe as Argon is non explosive.

Interesting demonstration. Please explain what causes the "mini sonic boom"? There is probably not that much total force applied to the paper (or foil) but that force is applied over a very, very small area. It would interesting to calculate the area of contact between the two spheres knowing that they will deform ever so slightly. The paper would simply crush and thus heat up and burn over a very small area. The foil will compress and push outwards causing the ripples.

Interesting! But may I disagree in 2 points? 1st 340 mph isn't the speed of sound, that's 767.3 mph. 2nd Larger balls create more energy, but the surface area for quenching is increasing less. The weight/mass/volume increase by cubic in relation to radius/diameter while the surface are increases just by square.
@fiftyfat
@fiftyfat 2 года назад
Yeah I find it strange too, I'm going to try with "boule de pétanque" it's from a french sport, the steel balls are bigger than that so I'll know. Also the foil migth just wrikle due buckling from heat expansion and not by creating a still image of a shockwave.

Hello, I have a curious experiment, Viktor Grebennikov talked about beetles can somehow levitate. I suppose that you can catch a few beetles and introduce them into the vacuum chamber, if that man was correct, they should supposedly, ‘levitate’, greetings.

Mate your English is better than mine and I’m a top scoring student in the uk, but anyway that does seem like a good experiment

JOSE KLK BRR I’m assuming you mean “Hello, I have a curious experiment, Viktor Grebennikov talked about beetles can somehow levitate. I suppose that you can catch a few beetles and introduce them into the vacuum chamber, if that man was correct, they should supposedly, ‘levitate’” but your English is very good as your a non-English speaker. If you want, you can copy+paste this. Hope I helped! And I like the idea!!
