@@sauskar3308 For me it's all about inspiration. If I'm not inspired to write something, it can definitely be a process to make a song either from the ground up or based on a previous idea I had. But if I can capture that inspiration and use it's momentum, then the song comes naturally. Most of the songs I write are just products of harnessing inspiration, and so far it seems to work well.

these cats need to learn from JAZZERS: improvisation isn't as hard as you think. Tangerine Dream, Miles Davis, and umpteen others make BRILLIANT ALBUMS... in real time! 45 minutes! (you can learn to write songs in REAL time: lay down a few chord progressions, then improv the drums then improv the bass then do over dubs. Less than 30 minutes, including editing / mixing.)

This actually has taught me a lesson of sorts. When it comes to songwriting I’m very impatient with myself and tend to get very frustrated and depressed when I have a hard time coming up with ideas I like. This kinda showed me that I need to slow down and be able to have fun doing it. Thanks, Rob. Keep it up, dude.

Something that helps me write music is starting without expectations and getting ideas out as soon as they come. How I used to make music was sitting down and trying to make something I had come up with in my head. Obviously it never sounded exactly how it was in my head so I’d get frustrated and give up. Now I just sit down and play with sounds until something stands out and roll with it. And I used to spend way too much time on the smaller details before moving on to another section. I’d delete things that didn’t fit and start over. Now I get out as many ideas as I can before I get used to how the track sounds and it begins to feel like I shouldn’t change it anymore (hopefully you’ve experienced this too lol). Also, I save all ideas that sound good in case they can fit somewhere in the song later. You weren’t asking for this input but it helped me so maybe it’ll help you lol

If you want to hear this idea taken to its extreme, you should check out the "Surfer" EP by NOFX. One member took a day to himself, wrote each song in 10 minutes, and then the next two days he taught the rest of the band the songs, spending only a few minutes on each. Then they did a few live recordings of each song, saving the best takes (and some of the outtakes).

Depends on what kind of song you want to make. Easy circle of fifth chords only. One guitar strums, the other plays arpeggios and occasionally synchronizes with the melody, which is comprised only of the major scale. The drums are a glorified metronome playing a standard 4/4 pattern with the occasional pre-sampled fill. Bass is either hitting every 8th note with each chords' root tone or playing a half note then two quarter notes the whole time. Simple melody, only the major/minor scale. All you gotta do is write lyrics.

They are listened to catchy songs all the time like 1-4-5 chord shape or spanish or kurdi progressions that their ears became so one dimensioned taste so those prople have really massive pre judgement to other genres. For instance every Rock listener starts with Nirvana and some certain Metallica songs (Nothing Else Matters for example) and later on they starts to listen to other bands which are not really interesting for some new listener. This is about ear process. The more you listen rock music, the more your taste becoming more unique and different.
