Making a Spoon Fly Body 

The dryer sheet is a dryer fabric softener sheet that you use to eliminate static cling. If you're using a thin material and need this, be sure and get the unscented ones or use one that has been in the dryer and has all of the smell (stink) taken out of it. You'll find them in the section with all of the washing machine soap.

It's dryer sheet that is used as a "softener" for you dryer loads. Get the unscented ones or even better use the used ones that your wife (or you) normally throw away..

Mark Story , I don’t have a video of that but it’s straight forward. The hook is bent to match the curve of the body. You just need to get close. Apply a thread base to the hook in a matching color and add a weed guard of your choice. Using the same epoxy (or uv cured material) attach the hook to the body. The eye should extend just beyond the body. I hope this helps.

Ed Brown I don’t know if Don will read this but I’ve never seen him add weight. Part of the allure of the spoon fly is the way it flutters down the water column. I would think weight would adversely affect this action.

Normally yes. It's just a slight bend to get it close. Then cover with a thread base and epoxy to the body. Don't forget the weed guard.

The dryer sheet is used to reinforce a lighter material that, by itself, wouldn’t hold up well. Think of it as a fiberglass mat reinforcement that is clear after absorbing the epoxy.

I'm not sure where Don got his but pretty much any plastic spoon will work. I got mine at the grocery store but they have them at Wally World, etc. If you're looking specifically for the colored ones just look around. The key is to look at the shape of the spoon you're buying and the size. Not all plastic spoons are created the same so find one that fits the profile you want to make. Note that they also make clear spoons that will let you see how things are setting as you put it together.

Yes. It is especially good for redfish in shallow water but will work in all waters.
