I've made them from S/S machine screws by machining the head to form the valve 'seat' I'm not a skilled machinist so blokes like you are a source of vital info for me to gain the skills I lack.

If your in UK you will get Bronze etc, from "Track Metals" on ebay he also has a website / email for ordering. reasonable prices and reliable, he visits some Model Engineering Societies selling his stock .
