Thank you! I will admit, when I made my third (gold) one, I did screw it up 3 separate times and made it too short and had to redo, so if you end up utilizing that tactic...sew the strips on the front BEFORE you put in your eyelets 🤦♀️😳
Oh no! You serged your gorgeous herringbone weave linen so it won't unravel and end up a lump of expensive string? The AUDACITY! (insert pearl clutch here) I WISH i had the time in my life to hand finish every piece, every seam, every everything that nobody will EVER see but me, but i do not. Instead, I'll do my invisible stuff however the heck i want, and do some hand finishing to give the appearance i have that kind of time. Your work is beautiful and i love how much heart you put into it. Keep on rockin it.
Perfect! All your styles looked great. It’s honestly pretty amazing how a great design can be so versatile that you can sneak it into almost any fashion era and it won’t look out of place
Thank you! And I agree--with a little careful planning you can make something that's a total wardrobe workhorse! And a tunnel stitch is pretty close to a slip stitch. To me, a slip stitch is a little tighter and doesn't pick up as many threads, where a tunnel stitch goes a little bit longer. Maybe I'll do a short 🤔
aha!! this is what i need. and let's face it, I want it too😄. I'll get right on it. after I've made some other stuff on my current list. inonly know that as a whipped butted seam, or a butted whipped seam. I don't know if it has any other names, but it's what my nan and mum have always called it, and i learnt to sew from them a long time ago. sorry I can't be more help with it. I love the flower print cotton. but I think I like accidental Belle best. though I do have a thing for blue things. good to know it's not restricting/ constricting for busty lasses.
Whoohoo! Go for it! I'm about to start the yellow one, super excited. Definitely a good thing to have! Whipped butted seam is an appropriate name for it, since that's basically what it is 😂 and now I shall call it the Whipped Butter seam until someone tells me to stop. And thanks! Definitely like the patterned one more...which is the case for my entire wardrobe. Hah!
@@FantasticalFolliesCostuming that certainly sounds more like something you should say🤣🤣. Wonder how many would notice, and how many would think it was just an error in speaking. I have the same problem. I'll make something as a wearable mockup, then make the real thing and prefer the fabric from the first. Oh well.
No, jumps are more of an 18th century thing. It's not my area of expertise and there's actually not that much info about jumps out there, but I believe jumps were generally quilted or lesser-boned versions of 18th century stays that were worn informally in the home. These shirts are made using instructions from the Medieval Tailor's Assistant as well as La Cotte Simple--so inspired by previous centuries, the 15th and 16th in particular.
