Really enjoy the process of metal making! Especially I was searching for a hip flask this morning(although I want to use it for water not liquor lol). Looking forward to more videos!
Man, I thought that was really cool!! I’ve searched the world online for an insulated flask, like a double walled type thing that would keep your drink cold for 24 hours, but to no avail- . I wish they had that in production very easily to find.. but either way I’m glad I watched this video. You have a really cool skill set there, sir. - cheers -keep up the good work
Is it typical for titanium TIG welding to use very little or no filler? I'm only used to doing stainless and aluminum and that has always allowed generous use of it. Am I missing you applying filler in a small amount before hand or is the metal able to be controlled well without it?
If fitup is perfect it will butt weld like this easily. There were a couple spots where it started to keyhole so I added a little filler in those areas. On the outside corner welds for the top and bottom I cut the top and bottom pieces slightly big so they would overlap the body giving me a little extra material to melt into the joint. The weld around the mouthpiece probably should have used filler but I was trying not to hit the threads. If I were to do it again I'd weld the mouthpiece onto the top before I welded the top onto the body, that way I could weld it from the bottom side.
Good job mate, you made it a good size too ,it's important I believe for it to hold enough to get wasted if you want, I could never understand those tiny ones, so dude what's your poison?
If it was mine, I'd weld it back on like I did in this video. If you don't have that ability, find someone local who does and pay them to do it. Or you could try gluing it.
