Beautiful Sound! I'm impressed and honestly it exceeds my expectations in terms material sound quality, I used to think aluminum was the exact sound to achieve that quality, now with this project of yours It gives me hope I could go with the galvanized steel pipe and still getting the desired results, will do this project soon, thank you very much Sr.
"This is so much harder than it looks!!" I took some old manure spreader pipe line that was 3 and half inch around, trying to make farm memorabilia, but as far as where to drill the hole and how far down to hang them and then the longer and placing that...IKES!!!!! LOVED YOUR SOUND!!!!
Thank you! I love your idea of the farm memorabilia. I'm not sure if you checked out the website in the description, but there is ton of information there and you might find the size pipe you are using to place your holes for hanging. Thanks for watching!
The specific lengths and the distance of 22.4% individual pipe length for each hang hole make this video the magic charm for me. Mine's going under a bird house, but the sound has been my trouble spot. Thanks for the video!
Yours looks quite doable for reasonable cost ( ie: honey-do please... ) and sounds fantastic. Well done. (Lee's site and videos are a bit overwhelming and technical for me, though a great resource for many things like templates and such.) Now to hunt down some tubing, fencing, or even shower curtain rods to cut into that amazingly soothing Pentatonic C9 chord sound. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I agree that the website is quite informative aka, overwhelming. Lol! I'm glad you enjoyed my video and hope you find it helpful to create one of your own. Happy New Year!
This was excellent..the best do it yourself BIG WIND chime I have been able to find on the tube...really easy and practical and a beautiful tone..thanks from Mexico..saw one that size here for 400 dollars..imagine!!!!
these are the most beautiful sounding wind chimes i have ever heard!!! better than the $500 ones after which i have been lusting. just gorgeous and amazing.
Just found you......Your heart is as massive as your Awesome beard.......Lucky wife......CONGRATULATIONS and Happy Anniversary....What a sweet gesture......to take the time to make her gift.
Awe....thank you so much! I love reading great positive comments. Thanks for taking the time and watching my video and leaving this feel good comment. Oh, yeah, I'm just as lucky as she is 🙂. HAVE A GOOD DAY!
I was looking for a DIY windchime video when I came across yours. By far, the easiest for ME to understand! LOL! Some out here are just way too technical! This is the exact size and sound I've been looking for! I needed to do a DIY because to buy one of those, in that size, is outrageous! I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty! 😉 My husband has a workshop, he works, I'm retired...soooo😏😉 Thanks for sharing, and I'm sure your wife loved it! ❤
My wife DID love it, and it made the perfect gift! I've seen the prices on these and that is exactly why I made one.😁 Good luck with it, and don't forget to check out the description for some detail measurements and the websites I used to help me out. Thanks for the comment!
2 yrs later and this vid is still spreading knowledge. Thanks for the link to the math end of this project. "No mistakes, just happy accidents" Thankyou, subbed, and hopefully she likes it🤞🤣🤷♂️
Thank you so much for this positive comment. I appreciate your comment and support of watching my video. Is you mean she, as in my wife, she absolutely loved it! If you are talking about your girl, I hope she does too.🙂
I would love to show everyone her reaction too, but she is camera shy and doesn't like to be filmed. She doesn't mind photos so much because she can pick and choose which one she likes.😁
Wow, just Wow what an awesome project. It turned out great, I just love the sound . I love that you did not use alot of fancy tools, I think I can do this myself..Success....
Thanks for the video! I'll be revisiting often once I start this project... Looks like you had fun (mistakes and all) - always makes me happy to see people doing stuff just because they can!
Thank for the comment! It was a real fun project. Good luck with yours and be sure to check out the website in the description to get the perfect tone chimes, unless you like the sound of mine, then follow my dimensions. :-)
That’s funny watching you with the hacksaw . That’s what I was doing too . Then I remembered I have two reciprocating saws one is plug in and the other is battery . The battery one zipped right through a lot faster and easier on my arthritis
@@TheBeardedWoodworker i really want to make a barbie house for my grand girls. I have a saw and have no idea how to use it 😮. I got a few pallets? Should i maybe use some cedar?
Love it Gary congratulations on 11 years marriage the chime sounds amazing but I bet your neighbours love being woken up by that early morning sound crazy loud great work my friend
My dad made one and when i went to visit him last month in Texas i was woken up to it every morning and LOVED it!! I have some but they are gay lil ones and i cannot really hear them at all but would love it if i had one like this or even if my neighbors had it! Congrats to the wife and you as well
I Enjoy You Making You’re Wife That Amazing and beautiful wild chimes . It’s Like I Always Said The best give is the one That’s Made From the The Heart God Bless You guys on your Anniversary your friend foxy
Thank you so much for the comment. I do enjoy building and hand making gifts for other. This video was nearly a year ago and now I have to make something for our 12th!
Give it a try! The website I have linked in the description has a ton of information on all sorts of materials and pipe lengths and such. It's a busy website, but informative. Good Luck!
Awesome sound! Wondering why you bothered with the center finder? 1. If your jig is centered under the drill, then your holes will be centered. 2. No matter where you mark on the pipe, will be 'centered'.
Well, that’s just terrific. It has a deep and calming sound. It occurred to me that you could cut pipes for the remaining 6 notes, put them in a nearby rack and she could swap them out to make any darned chord she was in the mood for. Perhaps a minor 7th chord on a dark and stormy night.
Mr. B.W.! First off, Congrads on your Anniversary! Second, I absolutely love and totally appreciate your moment at 11:04 ! THAT my friend is gold! How many times I have been there in my shop. No one can understand it unless they have been there. Oh and that feeling of returning from the hardware store with a dozen or so parts only to realize you forgot one very important piece. Classic. Your project is awesome and it turned out great. Keep your sense of humor and best to you on all your future projects. ~ H.W. / Chimes & Chairs
Thank you so much! Your comment made my day. I need to get back out and create....mistakes and all! Thank you for watching and taking the time to give me positive feedback!
I have to add as soon as that happened, I cracked up! Too often these DIY videos don't show the frustrations of mistakes. Love it! Great product sir, great job.
I found the notes on the website I reference. He has all sorts of info on pipe thickness, type, and diameter. He then tells us what size to cut which ever pipe you use to make just about any note/tone. 👍🏻
the flapper, needs to be approximately 7"x7" inches The Striker, needs to be a circle, the same size as the holder, for example.. 8"x8" circles work so much easier, and hold a lot more pipes. good luck brother!
Hey thanks for the great tips! I have since then place an old used saw blade (7 1/4") as the flapper and seems to be working on great. It gives it some weight and ties in to the whole Bearded Woodworker thing. 👍
Thanks! It was the cheapest option I found. All materials will vary place to place, but I think I spent under .$20 for the pipe (fence post) and I had the wood and chain already.
Have a heart, folks. If you live in the country, you can build these things a large as you like. But if your neighbor's bedroom window is only a few yards away, keep them small. I wrap a bungee around mine when I retire for the night or when I go away.
Sir i like your wind chime. I aswell make a DIY wind chimes. But i like to try making a big chime. May i know what size of tube did you used? Thank you in advance for your answer.
17:40 - They really sound great and well-tuned among each other! Honestly, you did an amazing job with so much patience and passion. One question I have in mind, though: Would they sound different if each chime's halfway length ( center ) is aligned to the striker?
Thank you so much! I believe they would sound a little different. The website I used goes through all of that. I like the look of all the chimes being even on the top than having them off kilter.
So, not sure if you are still checking the comments or not, but I have a question. I have about 10' of 4" copper downspout that I want to make a wind chime out of. How do you know how long to cut the pieces?
I followed the size chart on the website I have linked in the description. I don't know if there is a 4in pipe length there but it's worth the investigation around his site.
