In this video Ronald Kanne (woodturner in the Netherlands) makes a wine cooler. A shiny wine cooler in ash. Made waterproof with brewers pitch and shiny with a high gloss lacquer polishing paste. And the wine is a rosé from Mauro Bussi. :-)

Ronald is a wood turner in the Netherlands. He makes commissioned work and his own free work. And every week turns out to be a little too short to get all the work done... Amazing! I’ve just started wood turning a month ago. I’m 35, and unfortunately struck by several slipped discs, so I have chronic pain. But I can sort of zone out when I’m turning wood. The very bad days, I spend watching great videos like yours. I saw on Facebook, that you will be visiting Denmark soon? Thank you for making great content!

Hi Ronald/Lies. Morning coffee and a new RU-vid from you guys! Already you’ve made my day! Some time ago I ordered your brewer’s pitch, Ronald but hadn’t got time to actually use it. Now I saw you doing it, sparkles new idea’s! I was wondering, though, if it is food-safe. Could you use is, for example, for the inside of a bowl for soup or for a coffee mug? Can you lightly sand it afterwards?

Hi Frank, Brewers pitch is for cold liquids only and It is food safe. So you can put soup in it as long as it is Gazpacho. :-) It is not a prity finish and sanding doesn't do it any good. Cheers!

Great video! I really enjoyed the interaction You had with Lisa. Lot of good energy between you two. You finish coated the project, but you left the nub on the bottom. How do you get rid of the nub without ruining the finish? You missed the most important part

Another great video with an amazing result. As always, perfect entertainment as well! However, one question regarding the brewer's pitch. I applied it in (one after another) three layers. Heated it to 190 degrees, got the piece of wood warm and let the pitch cool down slowly. Why does it always start cracking all over? Are there different qualities? I start to get mad with it....

I don't know Mirco. The wine cooler still has no cracked brewers pitch... and I don't warm up the wood but I also think I don"t melt the BP on such a high temperature...

Yes you can Karsten, but i thought: food safe, product of nature.. let's take brewers pitch. Melamine lacquer also would have worked... or an epoxy of course... I'll be in Denmark btw this summer! Grtz.

Ben het wel eens met Koos. Lies kan goed filmen maar haar vocale bijdragen werken storend en hebben meestal geen inhoud. Jullie zullen vast bewust voor dit format gekozen hebben en ik gun iedereen zijn feestje maar toch, bij alles wat je doet is één ding belangrijk: De kunst van het weglaten. Mooi stukje werk overigens Ronald en zoals altijd leerzaam.
