I built the doors to my workshop from metal profiles, insulating foam boards and wooden plywood. I am happy with the effect.

Seems to me having just built four custom doors for my new shop that a primary reason for building your own is to increase the thickness to allow for adequate insulation. Makes no sense on a wall system with eight inches of insulation to then install 1 1/2" doors. So here is the problem with seven inch thick doors: no one makes any kind of affordable lock system with knobs or latches. Hinges are no real problem to make for me but locking systems are not in my wheelhouse. I am in the process of modifying a German built lockset so we will see how that comes out. With a metal through frame I take it you are not concerned with heat loss?

Nice job...but..why do you install wooden panel into a metal frame?? That has no security reason...If I want...I will just kick it

Or just bring along a handy screwdriver and take the panels off in complete silence and step straight through the hole

Have you ever tried to break plywood? GL with kicking it in. You gonna break your knee 4 times before you destroy 1 of this panels.

Metal makes good frames because compared to wood it doesn't flex or contract as easily due to weather and better for wear and tear. You would be quicker just cutting the hinges if you wanted to get in.
