The fact that Binx made more appearances in this month's videos than they have in the entirety of videos I've watched in the past two years confirms it: Binx is also a Hobgoblin of Spooktober
I don't know what's confusing the people in the replies. What's there to elaborate and share? They literally told you she won the NYX face awards one year. Get googling. But seriously, she has this tendency to minimize her work. It's becoming grating. She can literally sew and make almost anything and she still can't say it's amazing. I paused at the bit where she said she's a dollar store version of people on Face Off. Women do this kind of shxt all the time and I can't stand it anymore.
I must say, Rachel's version of the "person slowly goes mad after a series of never-ending setbacks" storyline is much more classy and civilized than Stephen King's. Jack Torrance could NEVER.
I adore how comfortable she is with telling her viewers all the blood, sweat, and tears going into her projects; Instead of skipping through the struggle cause it is about the journey then the destination. You deserve so much love dear and I hope your Halloween went well.
agreed!! honestly one of the reasons i love rachel is bc she doesnt shy away from how she is feeling during the process! it makes me feel less alone in my worry as a creator, and in turn more bold with my projects
As the mother whose been through the teenage years twice I was actually hoping you’d pull out a switch and chase them off. I’m still having random fits if laughter, the little 💩s.
Hahaha I’m gunna make this reference to people when they are struggling and no one will understand why I’m yelling such a comforting phrase with such authority.
Me going “I bet you could have pad stitched the collar” when I know damn well I have never pad stitched a collar a DAY in my LIFE. Too much Bernadette Banner for the week. 😂
I adore the fact that while everyone else is using generators for phones, lights and maybe small appliances, you used yours to run a sewing machine. That's dedication. The puffed sleeves are fabulous! Great job! Happy Halloween!
The fact that you just kept going with this project even without power to your house is amazing. You’re so committed to this work and I’m so proud of you!
1. This is definitely one of my most favorite looks Rachel has done thus far. 2. She may have cringed at her response to the heckling teens, but I say WTF to their question. It wasn't clever at all even in a rude way.
The last time I got heckled by teens about my Halloween mask, I said "Your face." They were butthurt, but the older gentleman nearby laughed himself onto a bench.
Must be something that comes packaged with long red hair 😝 Even if it's artificially achieved, the sleeve fixation is clearly part of the meta-narrative...
If you’re ever stuck for an iron, hair straighteners are lover powered and work well for small areas near edges! It’s saved me many times at work or when traveling!
Kudos to you for taking on a 26 piece pattern. Girl, you crazy. The costume turned out spectacular. We all appreciate you sharing your talents with us.🧡🖤🎃💀👻🧡
"Stress cry" lol. I get that. Once I was at a workshop and my project broke near the end of the day and I told the instructor, "I just need to go have a meltdown real quick, I'll be back in a few minutes". Your project ultimately turned out much better than mine did!
Hot tip for someone who was without an iron and desperately needed one: heating a flat bottomed pot or pan with a bit of water in it and then using it as you would an iron. Works surprisingly well! Of course, only really works if you have a gas range or a gloriously large fireplace haha
As a sfx professional I would like to say the (depending on how much time the director wants to give us) we tend to use whatever we can get our hands on lol so keep on with what you’re doing ♥️
@@ahhh4117 if the director gave me an open budget and time then I would make a live cast of whoever’s wearing the mask (if I didn’t have one) then sculpt the mask and cast that as well. Then smush the two together the make the negative mold. Thankfully the main two directors I work for usually give me decent time and money. But I have worked for a few that want you to take a 2-3 week process and cut it down to a matter of days and with less then half the budget and supplies. But I like being creative so I don’t mind too too much.
Hey, you know that when you're feeling overwhelmed its also very okay not to post and that If you feel you have to post something to feed the algorithm, I'd also be happy to watch a one take of your cat running around or something. Maybe a first person view of your cat as it torments your sewing projects? :D
Right? And she’s in the middle of buying a new home as well? I admire this but hate to applaud it at the same time. I can’t imagine any of us going anywhere even if she took months off.
I absolutely love the disheveled Rachel at the end. Your energy is the embodiment of all of us makers and sewists when we pull off a successful project! The Happiest of Halloweens to you!
1. So proud of you for doing so much with no power! Seriously impressive. 2. Ballon sleeves are life, more balloon sleeves! I loved seeing the crazy amount of fabric that goes into them lol 3. We love the references! 4. I'm just so proud because I've been watching your channel for a loooong time and seeing how much more confident you are with sewing and how good you've gotten???? Like??? Amazing. 5. I teach 8th grade and those teens at the end would've gotten a Look from me.
That clip of Schmidt from New Girl absolutely sent me - “Youths!” - I was dying laughing, crying, wheezing, the silent rock back and forth while you hold your elbows and trying to compose myself enough to explain to my husband what was going on only to continue lapsing into fits of cackling hysterics at the hilarity of explaining what you were doing, what the hecklers were saying and the clip of Schmidt. I have only just recovered enough to write this comment.
that brown sweater and suspenders look was giving me "1950s fisherman, who lives in a bar near the pier, and is married to the sea"....-vibes...in the best way possible
This is our family’s favorite video you have ever done. My wife is very impressed that you matched up the stripes on the bodice. My daughter is impressed with your sense of humor under stress. Know that you’re inspiring a generation as to how to handle disaster. Happy spooky time.
I felt extremely called out by "a closet full of costumes and nothing to wear" as I sit in my driveway with the candy bowl in a kigurumi because I couldn't find anything to wear
Rachel: *cries for a half hour while the universe throws obstacles at her* Rachel: And we have ~fun~ here! I mean, yes? But also, I just couldn't help thinking that maybe getting this out by Halloween was just not as important as catching a dang break.
I'm honestly surprised someone hasn't employed you for special effects on a low-budget/student horror movie yet. You do such fantastic work on short time frames and little money!
The fact that you managed to do this with minimal electricity options is ama-zing! I hope that it never happens again for your sake. The whole ensemble is really cute!
Having somewhat followed your whole ordeal on Instagram, it took no more than "Welcome to the *actual* 1800s" to have me in stitches - it definitely can't have been fun to live through, but rest assured your cursed week made for one hell of an entertaining video (also the thunder rumble on the day three title card was *chef's kiss*)
I love how much Binx wants to be in the videos the passed few weeks x) She's such a cutie! Also Rachel laying on the floor with all the pattern pieces regretting all of her life's decision is 100% relatable x)
My wife watches your work religiously and i just wanted to stop by and say that it was very cool, and brave, and important, and good that you were open like you were about some of the difficulties you were having during this project, and presented them in a way that underscores the fact that it's okay to process hard things in your own way, and that you don't need other peoples' permission to accomodate yourself as much as you need to get through it, regardless of the circumstances or the difficulty at-hand, and it wasn't something to be ashamed of. The dress/costuming was great, don't get me wrong, but that one quick aside was one of the most quietly powerful sequences i've seen in a create/reveal video, and i think it's going to affect a lot of people in a positive way. Bout to well up over here just thinking about it lol
I had so much sympathy for you and your struggles with keeping on a schedule through uncontrollable circumstances. You did amazing! I don't know if it takes less power than your iron, but I've used my hair straightener for emergency crafting /seam pressing when I ran out of flat surfaces to work on.
That would have been a good comeback but "none ya business" worked well, too! After all, it must be difficult to sling a good come-back while dancing through the cemetery in a puffy-sleeve femininized version of Jack Skeffington while directing your husband as he films you. A fantastic costume, you'll be the toast of all Halloween parties!
“Youths!” 😂 your “comeback” was hilarious and probably more witty than I could have come up with if you can believe it 😅 Also, wonderful execution on this project!! You certainly captured Tim Burton’s style with this. I especially admired the bustle (right?). Loved this.
"So, I took my already terrifying mannequin head." Me looking over at my own terrifying mannequin head sitting on my kitchen table. Terrifying indeed, but great for using when you're styling a wig.
I don't know if you'll see this but I've been binge watching your videos for about a week now while I work and they are so relaxing to me and help me destress. You also have inspired me to be more confident in myself when I start making videos. So thank you so much!
Spooktacular, Darling! Fun fact: “these things” are called “Brads.” I will forever remember that because that’s my dads name and my second grade teacher called them “Cricket’s dads.” Shout out to Mrs. Gage!
“No I’m not selling you black market watches in a dark alleyway” 🤣🤣 hands up all of those who would buy black market watches from Rachel in a dark alleyway 👻👻👻 Rachel, I absolutely loved this content, you just get better and better GIRL!
I love that this was "a mess", it's so real. It was still super fun, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for putting it out there, and for doing what you do.
I love how, living about an hour north, I can pretty much guess what gets filmed on what day by the weather in the background... also, now I kinda want to see Rachel use that mask to do a take on Skeletor (mostly 'cause I think she's do a good impression of him...)
Rachel really had no power, freezing cold temps and meltdowns and still put out a Halloween treat for us with an incredible costume?! We are so grateful 🎃💖
You deserve a big break after this! Edit: just finished watching and SERIOUSLY DUDE TAKE A BREAK YOU WORKED SO STINKIN HARD AND IT TURNED OUT SO GOOOOOD
Rachel this is a knockout!! It turned out SO WELL, and I'm simply in awe of your persistence and resilience. Seriously inspiring, and I really hope you feel proud of yourself too
okay the fact that this year I embraced the fact that I'm in love with pumpkins and then I brought a pumpkin mug inspired in yours and here I am my name means "Cecília Pumpkin" in portuguese lol Lots of love from Brazil, Rach 💗
I really want to see like a costume/cosplay through the years where you go over most of the things you’ve made since the beginning of your sewing journey
I've been watching since the very beginning and I remember watching the Halloween haul when you got the Jack bowtie! Super proud and impressed with all that you have achieved. This 1890's look is spectacular! Happy Hallowe'en or Teanlay Night as they call it where I'm from in England 🎃🎃🎃🎃
RACHEL! You did another FABULOUS job!! It looks wonderful and you once again are inspiring me to do more sewing and crafting. Thank you for the video, it was worth the wait and I'm going to re-watch it right now. 🍁👻🎃 Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🍁
A whole half our! YAY!! Also, Rachel, you have absolutely leveled up your sewing this past year. You're doing incredible things! And your perseverance is so admirable
This is one of my favorite videos you have ever done, and that is really saying something because I adore them all. Beautiful costume, perfect Halloween aesthetic, and a good old holiday curse. Thank you for sharing this with us!
So much love, and I can't believe Maks-o-Ween is over again! I think this is my 3rd one with you. I'm so impressed with how you managed to get this done in such a trying situation. Major kudos! Take next week off. You deserve it.
I enjoyed watching this so much. The act that you completed all you did with so many days without 'lectricity blows my mind. Skuld of to you!!! Chef's kiss and applause, you rock!!!!!
