Can you do the braille beads with just a laser engraver? I have a laser engraver but not a rotary. Also, can I translate text to braille on Adobe Illustrator? Or what’s the most flexible software to create and export braille text?

I'm just getting into this myself. From what I can tell, Accent has the market cornered on the Braille bead methods. You CAN now buy the beads from JDS but not the applicator or drill but or vision machine to drill then apply the beads. for me, I'm going to be using a regular old CNC with the special accent drill bit. You can use the special Accent rotary contraption as well with the same cnc program file to run place the beads. Accent is super expensive, Entry is $1800 or higher which is mostly a 'license' (lifetime right to use their system). that's some serious bucks. which really keeps it out of the very small business hands. as far as the illustrator I wouldn't see why not. I'm going to be using Illustrator myself along withfree braille fonts and online generators. Please know that there are two flavors of Braille Grade 1 (which is letter for letter character) and Grade 2 which is it's own phrasing/sounds scheme. Both of these can be used with ADA signs and both have numerous translators online that can yield the text or the SVG file for you. I really like this video and saw that your questions were from a couple of months ago so it may never get answered. : ( -- sorry, but I am just a medium sized JDS customer and a fan of them.

Sorry, this is a JPPlus video I initially thought it was JDS. anyways. apparently accent partnered up with JPPLus to be their main distributor. I just bought my kit this week from them and am excited to start (not excited about the high up-front investment just to get started).
