I think it would be awesome to see you make a koi fish lure! There are so many different varieties with really cool color patterns and I think you would do an amazing paint job on something like a kin gin rin koi with the translucent scales.

I gotta admit, when I stumbled across this channel a while ago, I thought it was just another guy doing what he loved to do...I didn't know I stumbled across a master of his work. The stuff that this fine gentleman does is immaculate. Even from the beginning his stuff was good. Would love to see him carve something huge, like if he carved a bigger species, like a "near to scale " shark head or something.

As usual: amazing work! I was just thinking: it looks like the clearcoat in the plastic dish is building up nicely. I guess it could make a (way too heavy?) bait blank in a while?

An untried suggestion for your brush problem; maybe a little super glue where the bristles go into the metal would keep them from falling out. Also, I've found gluing two pieces of sand paper back to back make a great tool for sanding carved gills. It makes it stiff enough to get right up next to the next gill without having to force it to keep it's shape, the corners are great for sanding those tight spots, and when the edges wear down it can be trimmed for a clean edge.

Any thoughts on a red wing blackbird topwater or wakebait? Ever since I saw a bass snatch 1 off the lily pads, I've wanted a bait like that!

I once saw a metal spoon lure fore sale that was very nice Similar to that fish, I still kick myself for not buying it, because I collect spoons and spinners and it was really unique. Tried finding the manufacturer and couldn't. My point is that you should also make spoons and spinners.

You should look into freshwater rainbow fish! Very unique body shapes and probably hundreds of different patterns and colors to choose from!

In my experience, it takes about 24 hours for the vallejo primer to fully "cure," but it does leave a very smooth and uniform surface.

Revisiting this post and I’ve been wondering 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️ you ever use dowel rods to help hold these split pieces together? I think it would make for a nice piece if it were a small bass weight transfer segmented bait with dowels in it and only a translucent or transparent paint job so you could still see the wood grain and the doweling be a different type of wood for contrast 🤔 lol but I’m not a bait maker 😂

What IF you covered both sides of the rattlechamber & hit it with some accelerant to cure it? That way you wouldnt have an issue with the polyurethane seeping through and messing with your balls. Might even change the sound of the rattle!

So now that you're on to African fresh water fish, maybe some cichlids? Possibly a discus fish or an Oscar perhaps? I'm not to sure where disus fish are from, but man are they pretty.

Take a pair of scissors and cut those cheap brushes into a chisel tip, and you will get much more performance out of those bristles and more control.

As a follow up video he should do an African money lure in the shape of different Africa countries' money symbols.

You're getting too good at carving and painting to be fishing with creations. Fish don't care, they'd hit a bait that was warn out before a new one. These need to be mounted on driftwood and displayed.

lol I just slammed a chisel into my finger yesterday, luckily my chisel was sharp and the doctor was able to just glue it together

That bubble in the clear coat has happened to me a few times it could be moisture maybe some water penetrated the wood through the tail slot or it could be paint who knows but it happens to me with wooden lures especially jointed swimbaits, what I did notice is that the clearcoat is only sticking to paint and not adhering to the wood making it not really strong and when fishing the wood expands due to moisture and shrinks sometimes causing issues in the clearcoat
